Team the Magical Mermaid stamp set with Blueberry Bushel ink

A handmade Mermaid card with the words 'Dream Big' made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set and Blueberry Bushel ink from Stampin' Up!

Create the Dream Big card in Blue
I have been playing with the Magical Mermaid stamp set again. A few weeks ago I posted this Dream Big card in yellow (Pineapple Punch) and I loved this card so much that I made it again in blue (Blueberry Bushel). You could use any colour and this will be a beautiful card making project. You could also use this as the basis for a scrapbooking page.

I have used this stamp set a lot (also available in Wood Mount) - it is so much fun changing the colour of her tail, her hair, and the background.

A handmade Mermaid card with the words 'Dream Big' made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set and Blueberry Bushel ink from Stampin' Up!

Make today's project
This is a really easy project with only a little bit of detail - just some colouring and fussy-cutting to do. I decided the sentiment would be 'Dream Big' but you can create any sentiment you like using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set. Sentiments like 'Happy Birthday' and 'Good Luck' will work just as well. Even though this is a fairly basic stamp set it's one that I use time and time again, so well worth investing in.

To create this card follow the steps below:

1. Stamp the seaweed stamp from Magical Mermaid in Lemon Lime Twist onto some Very Vanilla Cardstock
2. Mount on to some Blueberry Bushel Cardstock. Mount again on to your Very Vanilla Cardstock base.
3. Stamp your Mermaid in Black Memento Ink and leave to dry.
4. Using a Blender Pen and Ink Pads of your choice colour your Mermaid in.
5. Fussy cut your Mermaid.
6. Stamp your sentiment using Labeler Alphabet and fussy cut out.

7. Add some Artisan Pearls
8. Assemble your card - I used Snail and Dimensionals.

Create a stamping template for the Stamparatus stamping tool by Stampin' Up!

An amazing stamping tool for cardmaking and other papercrafts...
So you've probably seen the video of me unveiling the Stamparatus (watch it here). I was so excited to finally get my hands on one! The Stamparatus is pure brilliance, and I wanted to create a template to help me position my paper and stamps when using it.

The Stamparatus stamping tool by Stampin' Up! laid out flat including plates, magnets and foam mat.

It's so easy to make a template, just follow the video and these easy steps:

1. Draw a circle on some scrap paper. The Stamparatus has a 7"x 7" surface, so the circle needs to fit within this dimension. I used a small plate, which luckily for me fit perfectly.

2. Cut the circle out and fold it in half three times, creating creases and eight portions.

3. Place on some Stampin' Up! Grid Paper if you have some, putting the middle of the circle on to the middle of the grid paper. Otherwise do this on another sheet of paper. Mark a notch where the folds are.

4. Draw lines between each notch. Mark in towards the centre by 2cm, and draw lines between those notches, to create a band around the top. Add bands towards the centre of your template if you want them. You don't have to use 2cm - you can use any measurement - 1cm, 3cm, 2.5cm etc.

5. Place a piece of Window Sheet (or velum) over the top, keeping it in place with a little dab of glue if necessary. With a permanent marker go over the lines to draw out your template.

6. Place the template inside your Stamparatus and use the lines to guide your paper and stamps as you stamp. I covered my magnets with Washi Tape to create a flap for maneuvering.

Have a look at this article for more information on the Stamparatus. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Stay crafty,

Take a look at the Stamparatus - watch me open mine

Stamparatus - the world's most innovative stamping tool!

Woohoo!
My Stamparatus is finally here! I must admit it has taken me a little while to order one ~ they've been in the new Annual Catalogue since 1st June 2018 ~ but with illness and the summer holidays and our trip away - not to mention in the process of moving house! - I couldn't really justify it up until now.

What is the Stamparatus for?
The Stamparatus is a stamping placement tool. It helps you perfectly align stamp images, helps you re-stamp if you have trouble with dexterity and therefore ink placement, and lets you stamp multiples of the same image quickly and accurately - perfect for creating wedding or party invites, or the same Christmas card over and over! You can also use it creatively to stamp in a number of ways.

It was created for stampers by stampers, so has all the features you need.

It's absolutely brilliant!
Watch the video of me opening mine below. First impressions are that it's quite heavy - so I was immediately impressed at the sturdiness of it. When you take it out of the protective packaging you see that it really is a quality tool; the hinges are thick and click in and out easily. The size of the tool is generous, and the magnets are very strong - please heed the warnings if you have a pacemaker or are using it with someone who has.

I plan to make more videos on how to use it, so feel free to Subscribe to my YouTube Channel.

Take a closer look...

Accessories for the Stamparatus
You might need an extra plate for complicated stamping, or some paper with lines on to put in the base. I'm glad to announce that since the 1st October you can also get the following accessories for the Stamparatus:

Rainbow Dragonfly Card - Create this thank you card using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies by Stampin' Up!

Handmade dragonfly card with rainbow coloured dragonflies cut using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies by Stampin' Up!

Who loves a rainbow?
I do! I can't resist them. There is something about a spectrum of colour that is very pleasing to the eye. I also love butterflies and dragonflies, which are very popular in cardmaking. As a result I can't resist the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies which I used to make this card.

Another view of handmade dragonfly card with rainbow coloured dragonflies cut using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies by Stampin' Up!

As I mentioned earlier in the week I keep a stash of Watercolour Paper that has been water-coloured in a variety of colour combinations (but mainly rainbows!) so that I can cut it for use whenever I fancy using some.

This is such a simple card you can recreate it using the pictures above. You will need the following Stampin' Supplies:

Isn't it gorgeous? You can swap the embossing folder or change the colour of the inks used for a completely different look.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, please come back later for more Stampin' Up! ideas,

Lovely as a Tree Anniversary Card - Happy Anniversary Mr Hippy!

Handmade card saying 'Have a Happy Day' with trees stamped in Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin' Pad, using the Lovely As A Tree stamp set, all made by Stampin' Up!

Anniversa-trees!
Happy Anniversary to my lovely Mr Hippy. It's our 5th Anniversary today. I won't tell you how we met, but our first proper date was at a gorgeous country pub on a beautiful clear evening five years ago today - the stars were out and it was crisp and cold. We had a wonderful evening and vowed to meet again.

The Army training area at Ash Ranges close to Keogh Barracks, Ash, Aldershot, Hampshire

It became clear that we both loved nature and the outdoors. So our third date, this time in daylight hours, was a lovely walk on a crisp autumn day. We went back to the same spot at the weekend for another walk, and it was a beautiful day just like all those years ago.

Handmade card saying 'Have a Happy Day' with trees stamped in Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel Classic Stampin' Pad, using the Lovely As A Tree stamp set, all made by Stampin' Up!

Today's project
To celebrate our special day I paid for a tree to be dedicated to us, and it has been planted in a woodland in Surrey, very close to where we first met. Of course the card had to be tree themed, too.

To make today's card you will need the Lovely As A Tree stamp set, which is also available in Wood Mount. You can use 'normal' colours if my eccentric colour combinations are too much for you!

Watch the Tutorial
You'll find everything you need to make this project listed below, just follow the video for instructions. You don't need the Stamp-a-majig (now retired) for this project, you can stamp using your eye, or with the Stamparatus if you have one.

Here's a very happy anniversary to Mr Hippy, thank you for all you have done over the years, especially your support with Stampin' Up! I love you very much! xxx

Stampin' Up! Jar of Love stamp set - You Light Up My Life Card Video Tutorial

Handmade card featuring a jar with fireflies and a Melon Mambo Cardstock border, made with the Jar of Love stamp set by Stampin' Up!

I love a card with lots of textures and colours, and there is something very enticing about a rainbow. This Jar of Love card was so much fun I decided to make a video and do a second colour combination:

Handmade card featuring a jar with fireflies, and a Polka Dot and Melon Mambo Cardstock border, made with the Jar of Love stamp set by Stampin' Up!Aside from the firefly jar, the main focus on this project is the coloured orb in the background. I created it using some Watercolor Paper, Aqua Painters, Ink Refillsand then set it aside to dry for a few hours before using it. The full list of products used for this project are found at the bottom of this blog post.

I made sure that there was some Daffodil Delight in my water-colouring to co-ordinate with the fireflies little bottoms being aglow!

Top tip: batch colour sheets of Watercolour Paper in a range of colours and put away for later use.

How to make this card
The full list of products for this project is found at the bottom of this blog post. I have also added in the Night of Navy colour combination choices, too.

1. Wash your Watercolour Paper with your chosen colours, set aside. Cut out a circle using the Stitched Shape Framelits Dies in the Big Shot
2. Emboss your Whisper White Cardstock with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder, or with another embossing folder of your choice
3. Stamp the jar and fireflies, adding some Daffodil Delight. Cut out either with Paper Snips, or by using the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies in the Big Shot.

Thanks for stopping by today, I really hope you liked this project!  Please pop back regularly, and Subscribe to my YouTube Channel so that you don't miss out on any of the fun,

Stampin' Up! Magical Mermaid - Create a simple Coastal Cabana Mermaid Card

Handmade Mermaid Card in shades of light blue and green made by www.craftyhippy.co.uk using Coastal Cabana Ink and the Magical Mermaid stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Sea-themed cards after a trip to Orkney...
As followers of this blog will know I love a simple (and easy!) card. Today's card is no exception, and has been inspired by mine and Mr Hippy's recent trip to Orkney.

We haven't had a holiday in years so we were super-excited as we drove up through the UK - it is such a long way! We got a ferry from Scrabster, which is at the very top, over to Stromness, which takes about an hour and a half. Unfortunately our ferry trip coincided with the tail end of Storm Ali, so we had a very rough crossing indeed - lots of very sick people on the ship! Needless to say we won't be going on a cruise anytime soon.

Mr Hippy and I standing by the Ring of Brodgar, which is about 5 miles from Stromness, Orkney

We had a wonderful time - we visited several neolithic sites including The Ring of Brodgar (above), Skara Brae and Maeshowe, all of which were on my 'Ancient History Bucket List' (yes, I have one of those), and we had a lovely walk around Stromness.

We weren't there for long but had time for a bit of Groatie Buckie hunting... these cowrie shells, or 'Groatie Buckies' are very hard to find and are considered good luck. Mr Hippy found a couple and I found three; treasure indeed:

In my hand are the three 'Groatie Buckie' cowrie shells that I found on Birsay Beach, Orkney

After spending a few days by the coast I came home feeling inspired, and wanting to make sea themed cards. So out came Magical Mermaid (again), sorry!

Make today's project
This is such an easy project - a little bit of time is needed for colouring and fussy-cutting but other than that it's a quick make.

The Stampin' Supplies I used for this card are listed at the bottom of this post, all you have to do is assemble it according to the video below.

I really hope you'll have a go at this one - feel free to send me pictures of your creation!
