Create a beautiful dragonfly card with the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set

... and celebrate the arrival of autumn.
Here in England the summer has come to a close and autumn is pretty much here. To be totally honest I have mixed feelings about this. I love the autumn - the beautiful trees and their pretty leaves, the chilly nights, wrapping up in coats and boots, and the opportunity to delve into the Autumn Winter Catalogue and make pretty autumn cards. But as someone who has a rheumatic condition and depends on the sun for her vitamin D, the winter means feeling extremely unwell, succumbing to low mood, and being in a lot of pain.

The summer was fantastic. Unusually, it lasted all the way from late April - heavy snow having fallen only 6 weeks previously - all the way through to September. All highly unusual for England, and making it even harder to say goodbye to the summer.

Here are some highlights!

Family day out at Butser Ancient Farm, Petersfield for the Beltain Celebrations in May
With my cousin and his lovely wife (sat next to Mr Hippy) for Beltane (May Day) celebrations. My first outing of the year. It was surprisingly warm that evening and we didn't get too cold. It was lovely to catch up with friends and family. We saw some excellent drummers and welcomed the start of the summer - always a big celebration.

Little Hippy stroking one of the baby goats at Baylham Rare Breeds Farm in Suffolk
Little Hippy visiting us for a week in the summer holidays.

It's always so nice to spend some decent time with her as she lives so far away. She is nearly 11 now and understands that having M.E. makes me really tired and not up to much. She doesn't have Netflix at home so she catches up with her favourite shows whilst I have a nap, and then on a day when I am up to it we venture out with Mr Hippy and do something special.

We paid a visit to a nearby farm. They had all sorts of animals but her favourite (and mine!) were the goats. There were lots of them and because they were so tiny they kept coming out of their enclosures to play and check out the visitors. Here is Little Hippy with her favourite, she fell in love with him (her?) and called him 'Bobby'. She is still talking about 'Bobby' all these months later!

She might be the same height as me now and grown up for her age, but she doesn't tire of hanging out with her old mum which is lovely.

She also loves Stampin' Up! and loves to have a craft session.

Learn more about today's project
I am making it my focus to celebrate the autumn, something I have grown to be afraid of (as it leads into winter), instead of looking back and mourning the summer.

Today's project has a gorgeous autumn feel to it; some warm tones of red (Poppy Parade) and orange (Mango Melody), plus the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder adding some extra depth and dimension.

This is a handmade, Poppy Parade coloured dragonfly card created by Lauren Huntley, Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator for the UK, using the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set by Stampin' Up!

It's a fairly simple card to create, just assemble it as per the photograph.
