This image shows the 2018-2020 In Color Assortment Classic Stampin' Pads from Stampin' Up!I can see myself using this new colour quite a bit, even though I'm not much of a pastels girl. It is not too dissimilar to Calypso Coral, but lighter and slightly more orange. The new In Colors are gorgeously vibrant and fill the gaps that we had in our colour palette. They are called Lovely LipstickGrapefruit GrovePineapple PunchCall Me Clover, and Blueberry Bushel. I am having so much fun showing you all these lovely new colours; I think the colours in the 2018 Catalogue make up our best set of colour families yet!

This image shows the new In Color 2018-2020 Classic Stampin' Pad Collection by Stampin' Up! and you can see how neatly they stack. How to make today's project
You may have seen today's project in the set of cards I showed a few weeks ago. They're simple to make, just follow the instructions below:
1. Using the Love What You Do set stamp the watercolour wash, and then flowers over the top in the same colour. Link for Grapefruit Grove is at the top of the page.
2. Use the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to create your sentiment. You could use a different colour to the main wash for added interest.
3. Use the Cat Punch and some Basic Black Cardstock to create your cat. Of course you can change the colour of the cat, or any other element of this project, if you wish.
4. Mount your card front on to Basic Black Cardstock. Add some embellishment if you wish.

Create a beach themed birthday card with the Waterfront stamp set from Stampin' Up!

This image shows a hand stamped birthday card with a beach scene and was made using the Waterfront stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Love beaches? You'll love Waterfront...
The Waterfront stamp set is incredibly versatile. It is! You can create a myriad of stunning scenes, it's especially perfect for summer beach cards.
This image shows all the stamped images of the stamps that comprise the Waterfront stamp set by Stampin' Up!

So easy to use
Simply layer up your stamped images to form a watercolour scene.

Experiment with colour - sometimes unusual or bold colours really work with this stamp set. Play around, and once you finish composing your image it should look like a water-coloured picture.

Why not try stamping onto some Watercolor Paper and using a brush or Aqua Painter to draw the colour out.

Today's project
To form the basis of my project I decided on a few things:
1. I wanted a circular focal point
2. I wanted to use bright colours
3. I wanted a beach scene
and
4. I wanted to create birthday card.

This is often how I create my projects - I make a list of things that I fancy doing or using and then it just happens from there.

Create this funky polka dot Octopus Card using the Sea of Textures stamp set from Stampin' Up!

This image shows a handmade card with a green octopus and the words 'hello friend' and is made with the Sea of Textures and Labeler Alphabet stamp sets from Stampin' Up!

Isn't this Octopus sweet?
I think teaming him with polka dots makes him sweeter!

He is from the Sea of Textures stamp set and you can use him on his own or with the other stamps from the set to make all sorts of gorgeous cards and scrapbook pages.

I stamped him in Bermuda Bay ink, and teamed this colour up with Blueberry Bushel and Lovely Lipstick, which worked really well. I love how the new colours fit perfectly with our existing colours.

This image shows a hand stamped card with a mermaid on the front and a wavy blue background made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set and the Seaside Textured Impression Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!

This image shows a handmade card with a mermaid on the front made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set from Stampin' Up!
Remember when you were little and you wanted to be a mermaid?

Or was that just me?

Seriously, every time I went swimming I used to pretend to be a mermaid, imagining that I had a beautiful, shimmery mermaid's tail, trying my best to swim like one...

Ok, so a stamp set is a second best, but Magical Mermaid is such a beautiful set you'd be mad not to add it to your collection.

It adds a touch of watery magic to whatever you're making and goes with a variety of different backgrounds, the world is your oyster!

What Stampin' Supplies do I need for this card?
This is actually a really simple card to make, it's just a case of layering up the components in the background and stamping, fussy cutting and then colouring your mermaid before layering on top.
This list of products, along with the photograph will help guide you.

If you need any help at all with this project feel free to email me at the above address and I will send you simple, laid out instructions, but you should be able to work out what to do from the photographs.

Can I look at other Magical Mermaid projects?
Use the Search facility on the right hand side of this blog and search 'Mermaid' - it should bring you up all the mermaid projects I have made to date. Or simply Google 'Magical Mermaid, Stampin' Up!' and you should find lots of great ideas. Pinterest is a good place to stop, too.

I do hope you'll come back again tomorrow for more Stampin' Up! news and ideas,

This picture shows a handmade greetings card with the sentiment 'For You' and a tree and was made with the Lovely As A Tree stamp set by Stampin' Up! and Mossy Meadow ink, also from Stampin' Up!

Love trees?
We do! They're a firm favourite in our household. Mr Hippy is a qualified Tree Surgeon, and I love all things connected to nature. So as you can imagine we're loving the summertime, with all our lovely British trees thick and abundant.

I thought in celebration I'd get the Lovely as a Tree stamp set out. I haven't used this set in a little while.

It is one of those stamp sets that's so easy to use.

This picture shows a handmade greetings card with the sentiment 'For You' and a tree, made with the Lovely As A Tree stamp set and Mossy Meadow ink, both by Stampin' Up!

Today's project was super simple, really. I stamped the tree is Black and then sponged over the top using some Mossy Meadow ink.

I then concentrated on layering cardstock and paper to create my 'look'.

Learn how to create a flowerpot using the Crafting Forever stamp set by Stampin' Up!

This image shows a handmade card with a flowerpot design made using the Crafting Forever Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

More Crafting Forever flowerpots
So last Monday I showed you a very similar card (link at the bottom of this post) made with the Crafting Forever stamp set:
This picture shows the images which comprise the Crafting Forever Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! which is an arts and crafts themed stamp set.

I simply stamped and fussy cut the paint pot image using some fine Paper Snips. Then I coloured it in. The sentiment I used is from Dragonfly Dreams. You'd probably be surprised at how many other, different uses you can find for your stamps - it just takes a little bit of imagination and a bit of 'thinking outside the box'.

I added some flowers to my flowerpot - these were also fussy cut and can be found in the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Of course you could use whatever you have in your craft cupboard, you might have some gorgeous flowery paper but not the pot!

Simple Sunday: Create a simple lighthouse card using the High Tide stamp set from Stampin' Up!

This image shows a lighthouse themed handmade card, made using the High Tide stamp set from Stampin' Up! and some Daffodil Delight ink from Stampin' Up!

How to create a simple lighthouse card
Sometimes really simple cards are the order of the day. I wanted to create something using the High Tide stamp set, and pop the lighthouse up a bit for some depth and interest.

I used some really simple colours and fussy-cut the lighthouse (which was easy), sticking it up on some Dimensionals. I used Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight and think they work really well together. I kept all other stamping to a minimum.

This image shows a handmade card made with the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and Wood Textures Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

Add wood textured paper for a natural look
I love floral projects, and adding in some Wood Textures Designer Series Paper makes me love them even more! There is something so beautiful about wood and flowers together.

This image shows all the papers in the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper stack from Stampin' Up!

The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper is perfect for any occasion or project, and is a great addition to masculine cards.

This was a really quick card to make once the flowers had been fussy-cut out from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.

This image shows a handmade card made with the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper and Wood Textures Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

Create a sponged background for your cards and projects - Sea of Textures Octopus card

This picture shows a handmade card with an octopus and the words 'You're one of a kind'. It was made using the Sea of Textures stamp set and Mossy Meadow ink by Stampin' Up!

Isn't this card gorgeous? It was SO simple to make.

I've been really enjoying the new Sea of Textures stamp set and co-ordinating Under The Sea dies, which are available as a bundle (more information below).

The Octopus lends itself to any colour, and you can team it with any background for a fabulous nautical project.

Choose your colours!
I opted for Balmy Blue, Highland Heather and Mossy Meadow - they coordinate perfectly together. The background was surprisingly easy to create, just follow the instructions below.

How to make this card
1. Mask off a square area using Post-It Notes, or use a square die to create a template.
I used the largest square die from the Stitched Shape Framelits Dies. I also used Post-It Notes to hold my template down and protect my cardstock from being stained.

This image shows you how to mask off an area for sponging on colour in cardmaking and scrapbooking. This picture shows you how to sponge and stamp a masked off area using Stampin' Up! products.

2. Sponge your template using your colours. I used Balmy Blue, Highland Heather and Mossy Meadow. Leave to dry.
3. Stamp your Octopus using the Sea of Textures Stamp Set and cut out using the Under The Sea Dies. I added ink to each end of the Octopus using the ink pads and then blended slightly with an Aqua Painter before stamping.
4. Add some seaweed and a sentiment, both from the Sea of Textures set. Add some gentle waves using the High Tide stamp set.
5. Assemble your card. I used Whisper White Cardstock.

Please note that the Sea of Textures stamp set and co-ordinating Under the Sea Dies are available as a Clear Mount Bundle and Wood Mount Bundle
