How to make a magical Mermaid Card. Follow the step-by-step instructions, using the Magical Mermaid stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Learn how to create a magical Mermaid card using the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Magical Mermaid Card by Stampin' Up! Learn how to use the Magical Mermaid stamp set by Stampin' Up!
Create this beautiful Mermaid
Today's card was created using the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set. Isn't it gorgeous??

I love Mermaids, they're so magical. They're one of the creatures that appear in the folklore of many cultures worldwide.

There is something so enchanting about them; and a lot of the stories about Mermaids are actually very sinister... beautiful fish-women luring Sailors to their deaths...

The Mermaid in today's project is not one of those Mermaids! She is more like a beautiful princess of the sea.

You can create today's card by following the step-by-step instructions below. There is a list of the Stampin' Supplies you need to make this card included further down.

How to make this card
1. Create a watercolour wash on Watercolour Paper using Marina Mist and Pool Party ink using an Aqua Painter. Leave to dry.
2. On some Whisper White Cardstock stamp your Mermaid using the Magical Mermaid stamp set in Versamark and emboss with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder.
3. Using a Blender Pen colour in the Mermaid. Fussy-cut out using Paper Snips.
4. Use the Magical Day stamp set to stamp some bubbles. Stamp and emboss some weeds in Copper.
5. Add Rhinestones and Tutti-Frutti Adhesive-backed Sequins.
6. Stamp the sentiment and adhere your Mermaid using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Use Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper to makeover an old notepad

Cover an old - or new! - flat notebook with Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! to create a gorgeous gift.

Whole Lot of Lovely...
This notebook is a whole lot of lovely! It is one of the notepads I made my demonstrators for Christmas to say thank you for all that they do. Using Designer Series Paper is the perfect way to spruce up old notebooks, or to cover new notebooks like this one, and to turn them into something really beautiful.

I used Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper for this project. The colours are just beautiful. The ribbon is actually retired and from my stash, but we have a huge range of ribbon to choose from.

You can find the whole list of products used to decorate this notebook below...

Learn more about Stampin' Up!'s most chosen Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Heartfelt Blooms

Take a look at the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set, the most chosen stamp set in Sale-A-Bration
Heartfelt Blooms is the #1 most selected stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Some interesting information about the design and manufacturing of the floral image - the Stampin’ Up! concept artist sketched the bouquet of flowers then photographed it.

Take a look at how to use Heartfelt Blooms to create gorgeous packaging

The Stampin’ Up! manufacturing facility then turned the photographed image into rubber. The result is this one-of-a kind, patent-pending style that Stampin’ Up! has given the name 'DistINKtive'. This unique stamp surface will lay the ink down in different opacities giving the finished image more depth.

Isn't it beautiful? Of course as this is one of our Sale-A-Bration sets it is FREE when you spend a qualifying order of £45 on Stampin' Up! products (excl. P&P).

Don't have the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set to co-ordinate with our Coffee Break Designer Series Paper? No problem!

Of course with an Annual Catalogue as large as Stampin' Up!'s, it's going to be impossible to own every single item.

Just like our Myths & Magic DSP, our Coffee Break DSP has elements that you can cut out and use as a focal point instead of a stamped image, so it doesn't matter if you don't have the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set in your craft stash.

Take a look at the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!
Coffee Break Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

Coffee Break DSP is beautifully put together; the Early Espresso, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky and Soft Suede work really well together.

The stamp set in today's project is Amazing You which is FREE during Sale-A-Bration.

I'm using a lot more of my paper up now that I am fussy-cutting parts of it out, and getting double uses for my money.

How to make this card
I thought this was such a lovely project to make. Sometimes I think it's nice when the focus isn't a stamp set but the Designer Series Paper instead - and both the bottle and the background papers have been taken from Bubbles & Fizz.

I used Whisper White Cardstock as my base and Basic Black as my ink.

The embellishments are Rhinestones and our Tutti-Frutti Adhesive-backed Sequins - these are currently a favourite of mine, I've been using them on everything!

If you have any questions about Sale-A-Bration, how to make this project or the products used in it please don't hesitate to drop me a line on the email address above.

How to make a Mermaid Card using the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

Make this Myths & Magic Card by Stampin' Up!

Cartoon Mermaids from Myths & Magic
I love this little mermaid. I especially love that she has silver locks. I think I connect to this little mermaid because despite only being 36 I have an awful lot of grey hair! To be fair I love all of the cartoon mermaids in the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP - they are all utterly enchanting and just perfect to fussy-cut out for your projects. There are dragons, wizards, unicorns and knights, too.

I used a palette of Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party for this card - I think they are perfect together.

The Myths & Magic paper also provides the little grey strip with the Fleurs de Lys on to the right of the mermaid.

Create a beautiful mermaid card using the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! and some Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stampin' PadMake a Mermaid Card using the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

The further and further I got into this project the more I enjoyed it. I love the result. A dreamy, floaty, whimsical mermaid, happy in the deep, with her magical silver hair!

What do I need to make this card?
Below is a list of the full supplies you need to make this gorgeous mermaid project.

I think my next challenge is to create something with one of the knights or the unicorns - I have not used them yet!

How to make a floral greetings card using the Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Create this gorgeous Perfect Plum card using the Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Create a floral masterpiece using the Touches of Texture stamp set
I create so many cards with a white background, so many would probably be classed as Clean and Simple (CAS) so I decided I would dig out the coloured cardstock for a change.

Learn how to create a beautiful floral greetings card with the Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up! I didn't exactly know where I was going with this, just that I fancied doing a purple card and I picked out Touches of Texture and decided I'd create something around those two products. I don't use purple much even though it is one of my favourite colours.

My cardbase is Perfect Plum and the main square is Wisteria Wonder - one of my favourite Stampin' Up! colours of all time.

Add some embellishments...
What do you think? I'm pleased with it, I think it came out ok!

I really went to town with the embellishments; I used a mixture of Rhinestones, Brights Enamel Shapes, Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins and Iridescent Sequins.

I fussy-cut the flowers using our Paper Snips, and layered everything with some Stampin' Dimensionals.

I used a lot of products in this project, but it's worth pointing out that a lot of these were scraps. You can find the full list of Stampin' Supplies used for this project at the bottom of this post.

Go on, dig out the coloured cardstock and see what you come up with. Pick three or four colours and finish your project off with some sparkle.

My 10 current favourite Stampin' Up! products - and the reasons why!

So today I thought I'd give you a little insight into the products I love using. Now of course I love using ALL of Stampin' Up!'s beautiful products, but there will always be those favourites that suit our personal style, and we just can't get enough of.

Here is a breakdown of the products I am currently in love with...

Use the Stamp-a-ma-jig from Stampin' Up! to stamp perfectly every time.

1. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Still my favourite crafting tool of all time. It's so helpful! It helps you place your stamping exactly where you want it, without the guesswork. You can view it in my Top Ten Craft Products, where I list the items that I just couldn't be without as a crafter, and a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

Add some colour to your cardmaking, home decor, memory keeping and scrapbooking projects with Berry Burst from Stampin' Up
2. Berry Burst Classic Stampin' Pad
So the Berry Burst Classic Stampin' Pad has to be the biggest surprise, especially to me! For I am not a pink girl at all. This is a gorgeous pinky-purple (or is it a purpley-pink?) which is perfect for feminine cards or for watercolouring flowers. You can see it in action in this year's Valentine's Card.

Create tree-themed projects with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up
3. The Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
I know, I know, this one really isn't a surprise. I have LOVED this embossing folder and I have used it so many times this year, probably much to the annoyance of those following this blog. There is just so much you can do with it, as my 10 Woodland Embossing Folder Projects article will attest.

Spread some love with the Heart Happiness stamp set from Stampin' Up
4. Heart Happiness Stamp Set
Again, the Heart Happiness Stamp Set is a bit of a surprise, much like the Berry Burst Classic Stampin' Pad, as I am not girly at all. But there is just something about hearts that I really love. This stamp set is perfect as it has several styles of hearts, large and small, just perfect for adding to your projects. It is also a really good price, so I love that too.

Add some bling with the Gold Glitter Flakes from Stampin' Up
5. Gold Glitter Flakes
I am loving the Gold Glitter Flakes so much! Ok, they're small, extremely light, and as such extremely fiddly to add to your projects, but they give such a gorgeous look to whatever you're making. I loved them on my most recent Dragon Card. My trick for adhering them is to put a dot of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen onto your project, pick up a Gold Glitter Flake using a damp cotton bud and lower onto your blob of glue, which should 'suck' the flake onto the glue. You can sprinkle them everywhere, use them in shaker cards, the list is actually endless. A must have purchase!

Make a Magical Mermaid card, Stampin' Up
6. Magical Mermaid Stamp Set
So admittedly, I haven't used the Magical Mermaid too much yet. I try to give you a wide range of projects made by a wide range of products, but every time I use her I create such lovely things! I adore this stamp set. Why not follow the Magical Mermaid Tutorial and make a gorgeous Mermaid card.

Add some interest with Aqua Painters from Stampin' Up
7. Aqua Painters and Watercolor Paper
Ok, this one's a bit of a cheat because it's two things, and you don't have to have both these products, but it helps. I love the Aqua Painters and Watercolor Paper - water-coloured backgrounds are so much fun and can add an extra layer of depth to your projects.

Add some ribbon or trim to your Stampin' Up! projects
8. Ribbon
I have always loved our range of Ribbon & Trim but I must admit that sometimes I forget to use it and it sits there on its wrack getting dusty! I have made an effort recently to remember to add ribbon to my projects, and what doesn't get used is turned into something else once it's retired. My favourite ribbon is currently the Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon (pictured). I am currently creating stuff for my coming Etsy shop (watch this space) which uses ribbon - keep tuned to find out what.

Create height, depth and interest using Stampin' Dimensionals on your card projects
9. Stampin' Dimensionals
Stampin' Dimensionals are little foam pads that elevate elements of your card to create depth and interest. They're super strong and sticky and they come in Mini size, too. They're such a simple accessory but I always get through loads of them. They come highly recommended.

Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad from Stampin' Up! - the perfect colour for your projects.
10. Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad
Bermuda Bay is a colour that I seem to gravitate towards time and time again. It is so bright and cheerful and seems to go with any project that I am making. It also goes beautifully well with Berry Burst! This is one colour that I hope Stampin' Up! keeps forever! I never tire of using it.

What are your favourite Stampin' Up! products? What colours can't you live without? I'd be interested to hear what your favourites are!
