Handmade Handfasting Cords

Good morning all,
If you have strayed on to my site I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and I usually post up pictures of cardmaking and scrapbooking projects, however from time to time I post up other random crafts that I have done. I hope you enjoy today's post and will come back to visit my site again. There have been a few alternative posts in the last week as I made several crafts for my handfasting to Mr Hippy, but this is the last one.

Handmade Handfasting Cords

You can buy handfasting cords on the net but I decided to make my own. I bought some ribbon from Tiger (a Danish store) and braided them into a cord long enough to wrap around our hands a couple of times before being tied. This is where the phrase 'tying the knot' comes from.

I chose blue for water, green for earth, red for fire and white for air. I emphasised the green by keeping those ribbon ends long as we handfasted at Beltain (1st May, Mayday) and green is the associated colour.

Back soon with more papercraft inspiration, stay crafty!
