Blendibilities and other news

Good afternoon all!
Have you had a good week? I'm so sorry I've been absent, but I'm back today with Stampin' Up! news and other snippets.

My daughter has been unwell and I've had a super busy week with work. For those that don't know me well I work in an outside clothing shop - we sell camping and hiking gear. We're going from the Autumn Winter season through to the Spring Summer season which means a lot of work! The whole branch has to be moved around and we have tons of new lines in ready for Summer.

I haven't been able to get to the gym much, and I've also been unwell, but I went this morning and Operation Take Back Control is going well! A jump on the doctor's scales last week confused matters a little (they said I was lighter than I thought I was!!) but going by the ones at my gym I have finally managed to lose my first stone. I am so chuffed!

Stampin' Up! news now. Some of you may have heard that Stampin' Up! have taken the sad decision to discontinue the Blendibilities Markers. This is effective immediately due to a manufacturing problem. Not all of the markers are defective, and most do what they are supposed to but there have been some quality standards issues with some of the pens. It was a hard decision to pull the whole line but after some lengthy consideration this decision was made.

They are no longer available as a Sale-a-Bration item, which means that the other items will be chosen instead (making them available while stocks last) so please order soon if there is something you would really like.

Although this is massively disappointing it was absolutely right of Stampin' Up! to withdraw them and must have been such a difficult (and brave) decision to make. Their customers and demonstrators are very important and so it was crucial this decision was made to make sure everyone was happy.

If you have purchased Blendibilities through me please check your stock and then let me know if you're not happy in any way. Those of you that have been buying craft supplies from Stampin' Up! for a while will know that this really was very unusual for Stampin' Up! to have to make this decision.

Thank you to all the people who have ordered in the last week (press the Shop Online Now button at the top of the screen to browse or buy) and thanks for stopping by!

Sheltering Tree - Thankful for You

This picture was taken a few weeks ago when we had some snow and this is Little Hippy and I on our way to school. It's a bit blurred as the snow was falling and it was very cold, and I was trying to press the button on the other side of the phone to take the picture (stupid smartphones!) without dropping it. I think it shows what a happy morning we were having.

This picture and that morning inspired me to make a wintry card. I love the winter landscape and the changes the weather can bring about. Even though winter scenes are often bleak they have a definite beauty to them. Cold and crisp and a definite feeling of excitement despite the disruption.

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

This is actually a card I made Mr Hippy as I wanted to tell him how thankful I am for him. I am equally thankful for my beautiful daughter and the fun times we have together.

It's a monochrome card with a definite winter feel about it, and it was made really simply. It is perfect for the colder part of the year, or for people who love the winter. It is simple stamping and some blending.

I used the gorgeous Sheltering Tree from the (ahem) Spring Summer Stampin' Up! Catalogue - of course with a change of palette this would look like a very different tree!

To a Great Friend - You're the Best!

One of the best things about being crafty is having crafty friends! Which is even better when you've known your crafty friend for more years than you haven't.

Often we get together and craft and put the world to rights. I love these sessions and much creativity stems from them. In fact I have made lots of lasting friendships through Stampin' Up! as becoming a Demonstrator has meant that I get to know more of the crafting community.

Recently I got together with my pal Jane of Amethystar Crafting - she makes lovely cards and often inspires me with techniques she has created or has seen on the internet. Or she'll do something in my presence which will trigger an idea in me!

I was particularly happy with one of the cards I made with her recently - and the sentiment is very apt.

It is from the Simply Wonderful Sale-a-bration set (one of the FREE items you can choose for every £45 you spend, excluding shipping £4.95, see the Sale-a-bration link on the left) and is available up to the 31st March 2015. It says "to a great friend" and I added the further sentiment "you're the best" from the same set. The anchor is from The Open Sea.

The lines I created using the stripes mask from the Dots and Stripes mask set.

If you'd like to know more about becoming a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator then head over to the Join page at the top of the page. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. 07896 314573

Simply Wonderful - bokeh-inspired circles

The circles in this card are inspired by the bokeh effect I was talking about earlier in the week (my go at reproducing a bokeh-like effect was not successful I might add!) - I love circles and straight lines and any shapes or geometric design.

The main two colours I've used here are Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. The darker colour (stamped sentiment and stars) is Early Espresso.

Not my favourite project but I love the effect and will be trying this again another time with some different colours.

Back tomorrow, thank you for stopping by

You Light Up My Life

Mr Hippy literally lights up my life with his silly antics! I love the fact that he doesn't take himself too seriously, and he always maintains that whatever you do, or go through in life, always retain a sense of humour. We spend our time together mucking about - if it starts to get too serious then it's time to break the colanders out!

Actually, there is a man who walks around Farnham with a colander for a hat. I should probably point out that this is NOT my Mr Hippy.

Today's project is inspired by his light - I'm really happy with how this turned out and it looks even nicer in the flesh.

Stampin' Up! One Tag Fits All, Handcarved

The Basic Black and the Crushed Curry compliment each other for a really striking look.

Back tomorrow with another project, thanks for stopping by
