Celebrate! I'm "Truly Grateful" for friends

Truly Grateful, Stampin' Up!

This is a mini card which ended up being a bit of a collaboration with my friend Lynne - she started a card (but didn't like it) so (being the lovely friend I am) I promptly chopped it up and added bits to it and turned it into something new!

I love this time of the year - the colours on the trees, the slightly colder weather and that feeling of anticipation - and the fact you spend more time with your besties inside (often with chocolate and a nice bottle of wine!) doing things that you love - which in our case is stamping.

We've used the "Truly Grateful" stamp set with a sentiment from the "Fabulous Phrases" stamp set - which comprises of thirty wonderful words to add to your card making and scrap-booking projects. The dotty paper is from the gorgeous "Polkadot Parade" designer series paper pack which I find I use so often. It is very versatile and in the right way can add a really vintage feel to some projects.

Don't forget if you'd like to buy Stampin' Up! products on-line (saving you time) you can order 24 hours a day at the Official Stampin' Up! On-line Store
There are so many gorgeous products to choose from and everything is categorised so it is super easy. Once you get to a spend of £150 (or more) you are entitled to £25 Stampin' Rewards to spend.

I'm truly grateful for the lovely friends (such as Lynne) that I've met during my time with the Stampin' Up! family. Why not ask me about becoming a demonstrator today.

Hello, you

Good morning!
I thought it was about time I used the Regarding Dahlias stamp set again (I love it). I've used the Woodgrain stamp in the background, which I stamped over the dahlia (which was already stamped - I shielded it with a piece of paper). I then coloured the dahlia with a Stampin' Write Marker pen. An embossed "hello you" and a bit of Early Espresso Baker's Twine finished off the look!

A super quick (but effective) card - you can find all the products in this project in the Official Stampin' Up! on-line shop - you can browse or shop HERE  !!

You can still order the traditional way - drop me an email with the details of what you'd like to order - and I'm on hand to answer any technique, product or promotions questions you may have.

Stay crafty,

Simply Sketched - With Heartfelt Sympathy

Morning everyone,
I don't think I have covered Sympathy cards on this blog yet, so I thought it was about time.

Handmade sympathy cards are a lovely gesture at a time of great sadness. They show the recipient that you care about how they feel and how they are managing at this difficult period in their life.

For even the most seasoned of Crafters making sympathy cards is often difficult. Their design must be considered carefully. The most important thing about the sympathy card is the message it is carrying - therefore too many embellishments, a fussy design, or too much colour can be seen as inappropriate or unnecessary; and only gets in the way of what you are trying to say.

I actually like a little bit of colour on my sympathy cards, after all we not only mourn the passing of loved ones, but celebrate those lives, too.

The three main points to consider when making sympathy cards are:

Design: simple and elegant is best. You can personalise cards further by having a theme - something that is special to the recipient or carries special memories.

Colour: Not too bright, dark colours and tones such as purple and black are traditional - however if the colours used bear significance then I really don't see a problem with it. However, just a jot of gentle colour is probably best.

Wording: Again, simple sentiments and wording is often best but (again) it does depend on the recipient receiving the card. In many ways I think sympathy cards are the cards people pay most attention to.

Simply Sketched, Stampin' Up! With heartfelt sympathy

My sympathy card was made using the Simply Sketched stamp set from Stampin' Up! - this is one of their beautiful hostess sets.

I have probably used a little more colour than what is seen on a lot of sympathy cards; but I tried to avoid block colour so that it would still have that delicate feel to it; which helps convey the message of the card.

Don't forget you can choose me as your Stampin' Up! demonstrator and as your Creative Coach I can advise you on techniques, products, promotions, orders, and all things Stampin' Up!

Merry Little Christmas....

Good morning,
A big "thank you" this morning to the lovely ladies that came to class last night. We had a lovely evening cutting and sticking, and as the season moves forward into winter we shall start to look at making some Christmas/Yule cards and gifts.

Today's card has been created using the "Merry Little Christmas" stamp set (£12.95 wood/£9.95 clear mount) and some patterned paper from the Season of Style Designer Series paper stack (£6.25).

The Christmas tree was made using the Pennant Parade stamp set from our Annual Catalogue (£19.95/£15.95). A few rhinestones set the card off perfectly!

All these products can be found in the Official Stampin' Up! On-line Store Here - along with all the other great products Stampin' Up! sell. Make sure you have a look in the Clearance Rack, too.

Christmas is coming!

....and whilst I don't celebrate it I am busy preparing for the Christmas Shopping Night at my daughter's school.

I have been making cards using a mixture of old and new Stampin' Up! supplies. I have also been trying some different techniques and making use of all the ribbon and accessories I have here in my studio.

Today's card was made using the masking technique - using one of the Oval Framelits Dies I have masked off an area and sponged ink to create a night sky - adding Trees (using the Lovely as a Tree stamp set):

Lovely as a Tree, Stampin' Up!

I have used only current products for this card but will be showcasing some later in the week that have been made using old Stampin' Up! supplies, but they are adaptable to whatever stamps you have.

Lovely as a Tree, Stampin' Up!

If you'd like to buy the products needed (listed below) for this card the link to shop is HERE

Jewellery Up-cycle

Good morning everyone,
As readers of this blog know I love making jewellery and bags and up-cycling things; so today we're going to have a non-Stampin' Up! post.

I recently visited Glastonbury and one of the first port-of-calls for me is the charity shops. I found this glass bead necklace in one:

The pom-poms on it were faded and a bit musty smelling, and frankly I didn't like them. So I decided I would re-purpose the beads into something new:

I strung them with some dark brown hemp. I love using hemp; it has a good tensile strength.

And I added some beautiful spirals:

Regarding Dahlias

Regarding Dahlias, Stampin' Up!

Good morning everyone!
Today's card features the stamp set Regarding Dahlias, which was one of the first sets I got from the new Annual Catalogue - I love it! The dahlia is a large stamp and the "Hello, You" is super, super cute.

Regarding Dahlias set:

Regarding Dahlias, Stampin' Up!

As you can see the sentiments that come with this stamp set are so useful and are so current. The "You're Invited" is particularly handy.

Regarding Dahlias, Stampin' Up!

The designer series paper used is Etcetera, which I've used a few times this week; and the sentiment has been embossed in white for extra dimension. Quick, easy and bold.

The delicate cherry-blossom stamping (made in Crumb Cake) was made using the Morning Meadow stamp set which is one of the Hostess Sets (available for free if you spend £150 or more).

Morning Meadow:

Morning Meadow, Stampin' Up! Hostess

Such a versatile set, I can see I'll be using these a lot.

You get £25 bonus pounds for spending £150+ and this goes up in increments - and you don't have to purchase this set - in fact you can spend your free hostess pounds on anything in the catalogue - the choice is yours!

And don't forget you can order Stampin' Up! products on-line from the Official Store - that means with a couple of clicks Regarding Dahlias (and Morning Meadow) can be all yours.

Occasionally I post up things that inspire me. This is one such picture:

Isn't is beautiful? I love the colours and the feeling of peace.

Back tomorrow with the day's inspirational card post.

Masking technique

Good morning!
Today's card was actually made a few weeks ago when crafting with my friends and down-lines Jane and Lynne. It was the first time in ages that we'd had a chance to get together and the first time in even longer that we'd had to create something - there was also dinner, much wine, much chocolate and loads of giggling - so a perfect evening.

The best thing about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is definitely the friends you make along the way. If it wasn't for Stampin' Up! I wouldn't know Lynne at all - it was our shared passion that has brought us all together.

This card was actually a design inspired by Jane - you can look at what she does here - she has such a beautiful style! The main area and also the sun were achieved by masking - a really easy technique where you use card shapes and cut-outs (created by dies and punches) to create frames for stamping.

Don't forget that this blog (and Jane's) features Stampin' Up! products available to order through us Demonstrators. You can now also order online with me using the link here. Select the SHOP button at the top of the page.
