Clean and simple cards - use the Watercolor Words stamp set for a quick card

Watercolor Words card, Stampin' Up!

Clean and simple cards
I love CAS cards - these are usually cards with large areas of white showing. They can be tricky to make but you get the hang of them the more you do them. Less really is more sometimes!

Watercolor Words
The stamp set used here for both the sentiment and the heart is Watercolor Words.  It's one of our Photopolymer sets so don't forget you need Clear Blocks for these.

It might be a really simple set but I have to say that it's probably one of my most used. It's fantastic. I'm really hoping that Stampin' Up! will keep this set when the new Annual Catalogue is released in June.
Watercolor Words stamp set, Stampin' Up!

My choice of ink pads
I used two ink pads for this card - Memento Tuxedo Black and Real Red which is a gorgeous, vibrant red. But of course any colour will look fantastic in this watercolour style.

You can look at (or buy) any of the products I have mentioned in this blog either by clicking on the blue names or by using the Shop Now button at the top of the page and using the search bar to find what you're looking for. Everything is laid out in sections so you should easily be able to find what you need.

Using watercolouring scraps - make a card out of just about anything! Wetlands Stamp Set

Good morning!
Today's project is an example of how to use scraps. The two pieces of Watercolour Paper that you can see were actually off-cuts from another project. Rather than throw them away I decided to keep them and the perfect project came to mind.

Watercolour Paper, Watercolor Paper, Stampin' Up!

Creating the watercolour effect
I actually watercoloured the paper using our fab Aqua Painters and some ink from our Ink Refills which I squeezed into the lids of the Classic Stampin' Pads which corresponded (in colour). You could use a piece of acetate or one of our Window Sheets. I had three on the go - So Saffron, Soft Sky and Soft Suede and picked up the colour and then washed in on.

Wetlands Stamp Set
The wheat stalks were stamped using the Wetlands stamp set (available in Wood-Mount or Clear-Mount) - along with the Owl Builder Punch this stamp set has been a customer favourite this year.

Wetlands Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set which is packed full of wonderful sentiments and words and is perfect for any project.

All of the products I have mentioned are available to buy from the Stampin' Up! store - just click on the links or use the Shop Now button at the top of the page.

Freebies!
Don't forget that it's currently Sale-a-bration which means a FREE gift for every £45 spent on products between now and the 31st March 2017. Read the top post for more information.

Simple, No Stamping Card

Inside the Lines Card, Stampin' Up!

So today's project is exactly as the title suggests - a card without any rubber stamping at all. This is a quick and simple card to make - and you end up with a lovely result.

FREE Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper
I used the Big Shot machine to cut out the word 'thanks' using the Hello You Thinlits Dies. The botanical paper is the Inside the Lines DSP which is FREE when you spend £45 on products during Sale-a-bration (ends 31st March 2017). In fact you get a free gift for every £45 spent between now and then.

I used some Bermuda Bay Cardstock to give a pop of colour - but you could use your favourite shade of cardstock.

And there you have it!

Thanks for stopping by today, back tomorrow with another project...

Celebration at the Crafty Hippy Homestead & Sunburst Thinlits Die

Hip hip hooray!
It's been quite an exciting week in the Crafty Hippy Homestead. Not only did I hold my first Stamp Camp of the year, but I also got my Aromatherapy certificate through - I'm now a qualified Clinical Aromatherapist - you can see what else I do over at Cedar Therapies

I thought I'd celebrate with a simple card!

Lift Me Up Hot Air Balloon Stamp Set
This is another Lift Me Up project - I love this stamp set (available in Wood-Mount and Clear-Mount) it is so uplifting - excuse the pun!

I have used the Sunburst Thinlits Die to create the gorgeous background to this card, and of course the Up & Away Thinlits Dies to cut out the balloons and clouds.

Save 10% with the Lift Me Up Bundle
The Lift Me Up stamp set and matching Up & Away Thinlits Dies are available together as a Bundle saving 10% - again, available in Wood-Mount or Clear-Mount

Lift Me Up stamp set, Stampin' Up!

I used Calypso Coral for the largest balloon, Night of Navy for the smaller balloon and Cardstock, and Soft Sky for the clouds.

I didn't think this set would be so versatile, but so far it has proved to be a really great stamp set to invest in.

Chocolate Bar Cover - Perfect for Favours and Thanks

Saying 'Thank You'
There are so many ways of saying 'Thank You' - it doesn't have to be with a traditional card. How about a covered bar of chocolate?

This is how I chose to say thank you to the ladies that came to my Stamp Camp - in their bag of goodies they also received this box of Kinder Chocolate...

3D Chocolate Box Tutorial, Lift Me Up, Stampin' Up!

It is similar to the Kinder Chocolate Cover I made back in January but it does not have a ribbon closure. The box was lovely and flat so it was really easy to decorate. I made a sleeve that simply slid over the bar and I decorated the front. Quick, easy and pretty.

What you will need:
I used the following Stampin' Supplies:

£1 Pack of Kinder Chocolate Bars
Whisper White A4 Cardstock
Emerald Envy Cardstock
Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad
Marina Mist Classic Stampin' Pad
Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad
Soft Sky Classic Stampin' Pad
Archival Basic Black Ink
Lift Me Up Stamp Set and Up & Away Thinlits Dies - available as a Bundle in Wood Mount or Clear Mount
Any Occasion Sale-a-bration Stamp Set - this item is a Sale-a-bration item and is FREE when you spend £45 (excl. Shipping) on products. Use the links on the left hand side of this blog for more information.
Sunburst Thinlits Die
Big Shot Machine
Simply Scored score board
Snail Adhesive
Stampin' Dimensionals sticky foam pads
Tear & Tape Adhesive

Instructions
1. Cut a piece of Whisper White A4 Cardstock into 8 2/8" x 6 2/8"
2. With the 8 2/8" length to the left score horizontally at 3 3/8", 3 7/8", 7 2/8", 7 6/8" and 8 2/8"
3. Burnish the score marks with a Bone Folder
4. Adhere your sleeve together
5. Decorate!

It's as simple as that! Obviously you could decorate this project with any combination of stamps, dies and colours. Feel free to copy this idea.

Do get in touch if you have any questions about this project or the supplies I've used.

More 'Inside the Lines' Designer Series Paper - Red Poppy Card - Get this gorgeous paper FREE when you spend £45+ on Stampin' Up! products during Sale-a-bration

Inside the Lines, Red Poppy Card, Stampin' Up!

Good morning!
I'm up early today. I have the Lift Me Up Stamp Camp today and I'm very excited. I have 3 ladies coming for a full day of crafting, food and fun.

So there'll be lots of Lift Me Up projects coming in the next few days, so I thought I'd share something a bit different to hot air balloons.

Inside the Lines
This paper is FREE when you spend £45 on Stampin' Up! products. There are other items available and you get a gift for EVERY £45 spent - check out the Sale-a-bration Brochure to see what you can choose.

Inside the Lines Paper, Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Supplies
As you can see I have actually cut out some flowers from the paper having already watercoloured them - I did this using an Aqua Painter and some Real Red and Blushing Bride ink from our Classic Stampin' Pads.

The tip is to slightly squeeze the ink pad before opening it and you'll find some residue ink in the lid - pick that up with the Aqua Painter and simply watercolour. You could also use Ink Refills on a piece of acetate.

To claim your FREE paper
Press the SHOP NOW button at the top of this website. Shop for £45 worth of products (before Shipping) and then when prompted choose Inside the Lines DSP order number 143830. Spend £90 and choose two free products, and so on. Check out the Sale-a-bration Brochure for more information.

Simple Cards - Inspiration from every day items and using Watercolour Paper scraps

Inspiration is everywhere!
The inspiration for today's project came from a picture of a sofa. It is from the Orbok.com website which gives you ideas and tips for decorating and furnishing. I really loved the colours, which in Stampin' Up! terms translate to Crumb Cake, Soft Sky and So Saffon.

Colour Inspiration, Stampin' Up!

I also had another idea - to use a scrap from a larger piece of watercoloured paper - I hate throwing away anything and thought I could still use this remnant piece for something pretty:

Watercolor Paper, Stampin' Up!

Such a simple project, and you could use any sentiment you have.

Stampin' Supplies for this project
To make this card exactly you will need the following craft supplies:

Classic Stampin' Pads (squeeze to leave colour in the lid) or Ink Refills on acetate... I used the colours mentioned at the top of the article
Thoughtful Banners stamp set (or other stamp set for sentiment)

Tasty Trucks stamp set - FREE during Sale-a-bration!

Good morning crafters!
It's been a really busy week here. Of course we had Valentine's Day on Tuesday and I have a confession to make - I've been too busy to make Mr Hippy a card - ooops! Not good considering I have a card making business, but we have a lot going so he understands.

He still received a card, though, and for the first time ever we went out for a meal on that day. I had no idea just how busy it is on Valentine's Day night - the restaurants and bars were all packed.

Mr & Mrs Hippy, Crafty Hippy

Aren't we cute!? I know I am biased but I think we are!

Today's project is just as cute:

Tasty Trucks, Stampin' Up!
Get the Tasty Trucks stamp set FREE
Today's project features the Tasty Trucks stamp set which is one of the FREE gifts you can claim from the Sale-a-bration Brochure for every £45 spent on Stampin' Up! products between now and the 31st March 2017 (while stocks last). Scroll to the top of the page to read a bit more about Sale-a-bration.

I love the Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon used on this project - I'm nearly through the roll already as I have used it so much.

I didn't add the little cakes or the other food items to my project - therefore it would suit someone who loves vans. A perfect masculine card with the right colours.
Tasty Trucks, Stampin' Up!
I love this stamp set - Stampin' Up!'s take on it is fantastic:

Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! FREE with Sale-a-bration

Materials needed for this card
I coloured the DSP using an Aqua Painter and some Classic Stampin' Pads which I squeezed together to leave a little bit of colour in the lid, which I then picked up with the Aqua Painter.

I used Pear PizzazzReal Red, So Saffron, Sweet Sugarplum, and Wild Wasabi. The sentiment is from Lift Me Up, which is available in Wood-Mount and Clear Mount.

Lift Me Up Tea Light Box - Simple Instructions

Tea Light Box, Lift Me Up, Stampin' Up!

Since I discovered how easy it was to make boxes and other 3D projects I have not been able to stop! I have even got so far as designing my own, such as this Tea Light box which holds four Tea Lights. It is the perfect gift for friends.

FREE Designer Series Paper
The hot air balloon paper 'Carried Away' that you can see on this project is actually FREE when you spend £45 on Sale-a-bration products between now and the 31st March 2017. See the post at the top of this page for more details - the Sale-a-bration Brochure shows you what you can choose instead if you don't like this paper.

How to make this box - Measurements
You'll need three pieces of card to make this box, all cut from one piece of A4 Cardstock. Obviously, if you want the pieces to be different colours you'll need to use more than one piece of A4, but in terms of card usage this project is reasonably low. I used the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored scoreboard to score the cardstock.

BASE TRAY - 4 6/8" x 4 6/8" - please score at 6/8" all the way around. Snip a line in each corner and adhere.

COVER - 3 3/8" x 9 " - score at 6/8", 4 1/8", 4 7/8", and 8 2/8" across the width (not length). Adhere so that you have a cover to slide your base tray into.

INSIDE PANEL - this is a tiny strip of card that holds your ribbon pull-tab in place. 6/8" x 3 2/8" - glue inside using strong glue or sticky tape.

Stampin' Supplies to recreate this box
If you'd like to recreate this box exactly, you'll need the following supplies:

Lift Me Up stamp set (available in Wood-Mount and Clear-Mount)
Matching Up & Away Framelits Dies (TIP: buy with Lift Me Up stamp set as a Bundle saving 10% - in Wood-Mount and Clear-Mount)
Time of Year stamp set (only available with Stampin' Rewards)
Big Shot Machine
Simply Scored scoreboard
Carried Away DSP - FREE when you spend £45 on products - see Sale-a-bration post at top of page
Crumb Cake A4 Cardstock
Night of Navy A4 Cardstock
Watermelon Wonder A4 Cardstock
Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad
Mint Macaron Classic Stampin' Pad
Aqua Painter
Enamel Shapes
SNAIL glue
Tea Lights
Scissors
Peekaboo Peach 3/8" Ruched Ribbon

7. Score the underside (not the stamped side!) of your stamped piece of 8 x 8 card.
