We wish you a merry Yule!

Good morning,
Today's post is just to wish you all a very merry Yule! As the followers of this blog will know we celebrate Yule in this house. We shall have a celebration tonight, but here is a pic of us having an early meal a few days ago. Mr Hippy looks like Brian Blessed (by his own admission).

The next few days will be busy with friends and family, as I'm sure it will be for you too, so I'd like to take this chance to wish you a very merry Yule, Christmas, Hannukah (or whatever other festival you may celebrate). Thank you SO much for being a customer or a visitor to this blog in 2016, I hope to bring you many more crafty projects and Stampin' Up! news in 2017.

Don't forget you'll be able to shop 24/7 over the Christmas period, even on Christmas Day - simply press the Shop Now link above.

Thank you and brightest blessings to you all,

Sheltering Tree CASE

Good morning all,
Today's card is another project made with the Sheltering Tree stamp set - quite different to the card I showed yesterday using the same stamp set.

This is a CASE of a card I saw online; it is a copy of a card made by Heather Telford of Ottawa,  Canada - click the link to see the original card. Isn't it beautiful?

I had a lot of fun making my version. I used a slightly different green for the card base and I only did a few layers of stamping but you could add more layers of stamping, and more colours if you wished. So many possibilities with this one.

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

I used Rose Red, Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive Classsic Stampin' Pads.
This has lovely autumnal colours, but you could use some bright pinks and purples for an alternative look, or silver and shades of blue for a winter feel.

I haven't used this stamp set much in the last few months but I think it will be coming out of the cupboard more often!

Sheltering Tree - Brayered Card

Good morning!
Today's card was a bit of an experiment really. Since I made the Winter Sky Card I have been having fun with my brayer.

I used the technique in the video tutorial using Elegant Eggplant and Crushed Curry. I then sponged a sun (or is it a moon?) in Cajun Craze using a mask made with a circle punch (take a look at our punches).

I wasn't sure where to go from there; but ended up stamping the tree from the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

I'm not really sure if I like this card or not (Mr Hippy says he loves it) but it was worth a go.

More Woodland Embossing Folder

Good morning!
Following on from the Woodland Embossing Folder idea I showed earlier on in the week I have been playing around with other colours.

Woodland Embossing Folder, Stampin' Up!

Rather than inking up the embossing folder with an ink pad, holding it flat and running it over the folder, I have been experimenting with our Ink Refills and Aqua Painters

To create this look you watercolour the embossing folder on the side that has the 'Sizzix' logo printed on - you then run the embossing folder through the Big Shot (tab 1 for embossing folders).

I then rolled over the raised image with a brayer - again, I used Soft Suede to achieve this look.

It was as easy as that!

Woodland Embossing Folder, Stampin' Up!

I think I am going to try creating a pop art style picture with four brightly covered forests and frame it. I shall post up the results!

All-inclusive Card Kits

Good morning!
So for some time now I have been sharing projects made from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit. This is an all-inclusive kit that only needs your choice of adhesive to be added.

It makes 20 individual cards; you can either copy the designs exactly or alter them to suit your needs (eg. by making all of them birthday cards). This kit will keep you in cards for months and has everything in it to get started - folded cards and envelopes, die-cut flowers, flag stickers, acrylic block, Classic Stampin' Spots and more.

There is also another all-inclusive card kit called Oh Happy Day and works on the same principle but has different designs and colours to the Watercolor Wishes kit.

Please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you have any questions (email address is below). Thanks for stopping by,

Woodland Embossing Folder

Good morning!
Today's project is another from class last Monday. I created this using the Woodland Embossing Folder and I found the idea on YouTube - thanks to The Serene Stamper.

To create this look you ink up the embossing folder on the side that has the 'Sizzix' logo printed on - I inked up in Marina Mist and then stamped Always Artichoke trees from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set (available in Wood-mount or Clear-mount).

I then ran the embossing folder through the Big Shot (tab 1 for embossing folders).

Woodland Embossing Folder, Stampin' Up!

I then rolled over the raised image with a brayer - I used Soft Suede to achieve this look.

It was as easy as that!

I'm going to have another go at it with some different colours to see what other effects I can come up with. I'll post them up so be sure to come back and visit this blog again.

Jolly Friends Stamp Set

Today's project was based on a card by Natalie Lappako (aka The Stamp Witch). I have made some additions to it (based on the craft supplies I had), but there is no mistaking that it is based on her original card. Thanks to her for the inspiration!

I love this little Reindeer - he is from the Jolly Friends stamp set, which sadly is no longer available. I cut out his hat using the Jolly Hat Builder Punch which co-ordinates - this punch has been reduced in price and is still available and is perfect for creating Santa hats.

Jolly Friends, Stampin' Up!

The beautiful strip of shimmer at the back of the project is our wonderful Silver Glimmer Paper - this is perfect to add some sparkle to your seasonal cards and tags. The paper is our This Christmas Designer Series Speciality Paper and is perfect for Christmas projects, it even contains a page of sheet music.

You can peruse the above supplies by clicking on their names or press the Shop Now button at the top of the page.

Back soon with another project,

Creative Cardmaking Classes in Needham Market, Suffolk

We made some Christmas cards at my Creative Cardmaking Class on Monday evening. It was the last class of the year. The girls made this wonderful Winter Sky card:

Lovely as a Tree, Brayering, Stampin' Up!

Isn't it gorgeous? You could use any variety of colours for a winter sky. Many thanks to Flowerbug's Tips and Tricks on YouTube for the inspiration for this (video below). It was a surprisingly easy card to make and the girls really enjoyed it.

To make this project you need the following Stampin' Supplies, which are available from the Stampin' Up! Store (click on the names to go to the shop):

Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad
Dapper Denim Classic Stampin' Pad
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Lovely as a Tree stamp set (available in Wood Mount and Clear Mount)
Butterfly Basics for the sentiment (available in Wood Mount, Clear Mount and Photopolymer) - but you can use any stamp set for the sentiment
Heat Tool
Whisper White Cardstock
Rich Razzleberry Cardstock
Snail Adhesive
Brayer (Stampin' Up! sell Sponge Brayers, I used the Speedball Brayer which they used to sell)

Here are the girls busy getting stuck in...

Moroccan Designer Series Paper & Metal Rimmed Pearls

Good morning all,
I've used some Moroccan Designer Series Paper in this project, as the title of this blogpost suggests. I used DSP a lot in recent years, but have got out of practice using it. I think it's high time I start to rehone my skill with paper again 😊

Today's offering features a lovely butterfly from Papillon Potpourri (Clear Mount and Wood Mount) which is a favourite Stampin' Up! set and co-ordinates with the Elegant Butterfly Punch

Moroccan Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up!

In the middle of the card is a Metal Rimmed Pearl, which come in packs of 24 and are self adhesive; they stick easily to your projects giving them an extra layer of elegance.

The splodge stamping is of course from Gorgeous Grunge (Clear Mount and Wood Mount sets available) and I have stamped this in Tip Top Taupe ink. The 'birthday' sentiment is from Number of Years.

I had so much fun making this card, it was great to put all the composite bits together.

I'll be back tomorrow with another project, let me know if you have any questions about Stampin' Up! or their products,

Flower Card - Flower Shop & Work of Art

Flower Shop stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Crafty Hippy,
Today I am showcasing a card that was inspired by Julia Carmichael. As Stampin' Up! demonstrators we often have a go at creating other peoples' creations - we call these cards 'CASE' cards (not to be confused with CAS cards, which means Clean and Simple). CASE simply means 'Copy and Share Everything', and we'd use that term if the project is exactly copied, or very nearly.

This card is not an exact copy. I took the colours and the staggered Flower Shop printing and then made it my own a little.

Flower Shop is available in both Clear Mount and Wood Mount. The sentiment is from Work of Art, which I pick up from time to time, and is also available in Clear Mount and Wood Mount

I have used the following Classic Stampin' Pads - Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Soft Sky, Mint Macaron, and Rose Red. I really enjoyed making this card, even though it is not my usual 'style'.

A cheerful card for a friend or relative.

Back tomorrow with another project,

Glamper Greetings Stamp Set - home is where you park it

Hey!
I'm posting up two cards this morning, both have been made with the Glamper Greetings stamp set. I really hope that this stamp set is carried over and put into next year's Annual Catalogue as I think it is so cute and versatile.
Glamper Greetings Stampin' Up!

If you follow this blog you'll remember the Hobbit card I made with the Tolkien quote from this stamp set; I have to admit that this was the sole reason I bought this set! But thankfully I really love the rest of the set, and I didn't have the dilemma on whether to buy it based on one stamp alone.

You get 9 lovely phrases in this stamp set, and all sorts of additions and accessories to the caravan, meaning you can make a card or scrapbook page for any occasion, season or sentiment. You could stamp the door and the panels of the caravan onto our Designer Series Paper or use Aqua Painters to colour them like I have here.

These cards are very basic just to show you what can be achieved but I have seen some fantastic creations on Pinterest and Google. I thoroughly recommend this gorgeous set - every craft collection deserves it.

Wondrous Wreath & Hardwood Stamps

Wondrous Wreath Stampin' Up!

Good morning, and another Stampin' Up! Christmas HQ project today.

This card features the Wondrous Wreath stamp set which we looked at last week. It has been created using that stamp set and the Hardwood background stamp (available in both Clear Mount and Wood Mount).

Co-ordinating with the Wondrous Wreath stamp set is the Wondrous Wreath Framelits Dies, which have been run through the Big Shot Machine, and cut out the wreath perfectly.

The colours used are Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz and Real Red - a perfect match!

I'll be back tomorrow with another project.

Happy Christmas crafting,

Oh, What Fun - Christmas

Good morning,
It's the first of December - woohooo! That means we can 'officially' look at Christmas stuff. I have posted up several Christmas projects over the last few months, but I don't ever allow myself to get into the mood until December begins.

That means our Christmas tree can now go up at home, however I like to try and wait until we're well and truly into December. My mum's birthday is on the 14th, so we never use to have the tree up until after then as kids, however Mr Hippy usually gets his way and it goes up on the 1st. So we'll see how today pans out...

Oh, What Fun Stampin' Up!

Today's project is one out of the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue. You can always find links to this and the seasonal catalogues on the left hand side of this blog ←←←←←

Today's projects have been made using the Oh, What Fun stamp set and have been finished off with the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate, which I have only just discovered myself in the catalogue. Each time I read it I still find new things!

The ribbon is the 1/4" Natural Trim in Gold, and they have used Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pads, and matching card in the This Christmas Cardstock Pack.

I love these sophisticated, traditional crafts, they never get tired or old.

If I post up a picture of our Christmas tree tomorrow you know Mr Hippy has won!
