Happy Birthday Mr Hippy! (and other news)...

A big Happy Birthday to my gorgeous Mr Hippy - here he is looking deadpan in Little Hippy's Barbie Glasses. I hope you have a wonderful day Mr H!

Unfortunately we won't get to spend the day together; he is away and I am working, so we had a little celebration last night. He's only been gone a few hours, I'm missing him already!

Whilst you're here I'm happy to tell you that we have some great Stampin' Up! deals coming up in October that co-incide with World Card Making Day (October 1st) and beyond, so please make sure that you come back in a few days (at the very least) to see what's happening.

That's it for today, I have a very shameful admission to make - I didn't get a chance to make a card for him (oooops), only a shop bought one, but I shall redeem myself on our anniversary. So no card picture today.

I'll be back soon though, thanks for stopping by,

Triple Thanks - Watercolor Wishes Card Kit

Hi there!
Today we have another Watercolor Wishes project, I hope you're not getting too bored of them! Every card is very unique, though, this card kit is a very cleverly thought out set.

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit Stampin' Up!

You can view the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit by clicking on the link.

This is a complete kit that has everything you need to create 20 unique cards - all you need to do is add your preferred adhesive. I use the Fine-tip Glue Pen to secure the sequins, and SNAIL adhesive for everything else. You may have your own preference, but I highly recommend those.

It's so easy that you can do this whilst doing something else - I watched a couple of documentaries whilst I assembled them.

I really recommend this kit if you're new to Stampin' Up! or indeed crafting. This is a great starter kit or would make a fantastic present for someone who already likes crafting.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to purchase this.
Back soon,

Balloon Celebration

Balloon Celebration Stampin' Up!

Today's Stampin' Up! HQ project is a wrapped and then stamped gift, such a different way to wrap presents and great for all those times you find out you've forgotten the wrapping paper!

Paper wrapping and stamping would also be a great way to present small wedding favours to guests.

The Balloon Celebration stamp set is one of our photopolymer sets - these are cheaper than our wooden sets, and combined with our clear acrylic blocks work really well for image placement:

Balloon Celebration Stampin' Up!

It has a co-ordinating punch - the Balloon Bouquet Punch, and there are sentiments for all occasions - this is such a fun set, and a must-have for your craft collection. I love this set, it gets used a lot.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll be back tomorrow with more stamping stuff,

Big Shot Die Brush

Big Shot Die Brush Stampin' Up!

The tool you can see in the picture above is the Big Shot Die Brush and is used to remove the small pieces of paper that can get stuck in your dies after you've cut something.

Now, personally, if I'm honest, I thought this was a bit of a gimmick, and was perfetly happy with my 'pokey tool' ... However, every single demonstrator I have ever spoken to has this tool and absolutely raves about it!

It removes the tiny pieces of paper from your dies in a super-quick fashion by rolling over once or twice with a brush. Quick as can be!

Big Shot Die Brush Stampin' Up!

Here's how to use it:

1. Run the die through the Big Shot
2. Place the die face-down on the foam pad
3. Roll the brush over the die

My customers have absolutely raved about this too! Seems I am the only one who has not been savvy enough to invest in it, something I shall be correcting very shortly. Naughty demonstrator!

Time saved on picking out dies is more time crafting!

If you'd like to order this item simply click here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, come back everyday for Stampin' Up! news, offers and projects.

Best wishes,

More Interactive Spinner Cards

Sliding Star Framelits Dies, Shooting Star Framelits Dies Stampin' Up!

Morning!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today's project is another CASE from a card in the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue. Go to page 91 - this is nearly an exact copy except I have added some Night of Navy Cardstock for the cardbase and used blue ink instead.

Here is the original project image from the Catalogue:

Sliding Star Framelits Dies, Shooting Star Framelits Dies Stampin' Up!

I also did the bee card which I shared on the 17th September:

Shooting Star stamp set and Sliding Star Framelits Dies Stampin' Up!

These spinner cards are SO easy to make. The Sliding Star Framelits Dies make this so incredibly easy - they cut out a path for your spinning object to slide along. There is a circle or a curve.

You need very few supplies to make a card like these, they can be as simple or as decorated as you wish.

In both projects I've used the Shooting Star stamp set (links below):
Shooting Star stamp set Stampin' Up!

To make today's project you'll need the following Stampin' Supplies:

A penny or button
Sliding Stars Framelits Dies
Shooting Star Stamp Set (or another stamp set of course) - wood-mount or clear-mount
The above are available as a Bundle saving 10% - wood-mount or clear-mount
Big Shot

SNAIL Adhesive
Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pads
VersaMark Pad
Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder

Good morning crafters,

Another Watercolor Wishes Card Kit card to show you today - I love this card - it reminds me of the ocean:

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit Stampin' Up!

I love the shades of blue in this, they really compliment each other.

In the kit you'll find the Watercolor Wishes exclusive photopolymer stamp set, pre-watercoloured card bases, envelopes, embellishments, 2 Classic Stampin' Spots (Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder), cardstock flag stickers, die-cut flowers, an acrylic stamp block, Stampin' Dimensionals and more.

Warmest Winter Wishes - Mountain Adventure

Being a July baby I always find the transition from summer to autumn difficult, even though I love autumn. I think this is because in the back of my mind I know winter will soon follow!

So each year I sort of 'prepare' myself, I spend time looking at pictures of adventures from previous winter adventures to get my head in the right place for cold weather and dark evenings.

Of course this means I end up thinking about snow, which I actually don't mind!

I found this lovely picture of Little Hippy and myself from about 7 years ago, isn't she cute?

So, trying to get my brain into the darker, cooler part of the year (and to being OK with that) I decided I wanted to make some snow-themed cards.

Mountain Adventure stamp set Stampin' Up!

I love this card! It's perfect for snowboarders and snow-loving, snow-crazy people. Behind the sentiment are snowboards and skis. Isn't it cool? (boom boom!).

This was a quick and easy card and doesn't take much organising. You mount multiple stamps on one block to create the background pattern. Note that I used Washi Tape and sequins that were left over from using the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit (see below).

To make this project you'll need the following Stampin' Supplies:

Mountain Adventure Stamp Set
Stampin' Dimensionals
SNAIL Adhesive
Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad
Soft Sky Classic Stampin' Pad
Soft Sky A4 Cardstock
Whisper White Cardstock
Washi Tape and sequins left over from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit
Fine-Tip Glue Pen
Clear Acyrlic Blocks

If you've got any questions about this project or about Stampin' Up! products please don't hesitate to get in touch with the email below, I'd only be too happy to help,

Watercolor Words Star - Happy Handfasting

Hey there!
Today's project is a mixture of new and retired stamps - this is one of the cards that will be in my Etsy shop. I'm still working on the details of it, but I'm getting there. I shall post up the link once I have published it.

Many of you will know that my handfasting to Mr Hippy on Beltane back in May has been the main source of inspiration for starting an Etsy shop - it was hard to find handfasting cords and cards that I liked, so thought 'why don't I make my own?!'

Any excuse to share another picture from the day:

I realise I haven't been sharing much on here from the Hippy Homestead - I have been struggling with my health on and off since the end of last year and we've not been on many adventures as a result. I am hoping to start blogging more about what we've been up to and not just about Stampin' Up! projects, hopefully I can combine the two again!

Anyway, I digress; I used the star from the Watercolor Words stamp set to create the pentagram - perfect for Pagan cards.

The best thing about this fab stamp set is the sentiments are reasonably large, which means you can use them as the main focus of your projects. It is also one of our photopolymer sets meaning it is cheap and you can see where you're stamping! With this in mind I think it's a brilliant stamp set to have in your craft collection.

The broomstick is from an old retired set - Tee Hee Hee. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line using the email below if you have any questions about Stampin' Up! products or what I do.

Back tomorrow with another post, thanks for stopping by,

Something a bit different... Acrylics on Canvas

Good morning!
If you have strayed onto my site let me introduce myself - I'm Lauren Huntley, an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for the UK, and usually I post up pictures of my cardmaking and scrapbooking crafts, but every now and then I'll post up one of my other crafts or endeavours.

If you're not interested in today's post please scroll down for stamping projects and news. You can have a look at the Stampin' Up! Official Online Store by clicking on the SHOP NOW button above.

Today I am sharing a work in progresss - this is the beginning of a birthday present for Mr Hippy. I don't believe he ever looks at this site so I should be OK!

However, I won't completely give away what I am painting just in case...

Obviously it's a painting! I'm working on a canvas with acrylic paints. I've mixed two dark shades of blue with a dark purple. I've also used a little water, I know many people don't believe you should thin acrylics with water, but many are made so that you can use a little. I found it worked perfectly to get the finish I wanted.

Before completely covering the canvas I wrote a message for him in pencil...

"wishing you a lifetime of love, peace and joy"

I'll either inscribe that on the back, or make him a little gift certificate to go with it.

I have fully painted the canvas now and it is drying before step 2.

I have to admit I have been following a tutorial, and there is plenty of scope for error or failure (I'm really not a painter!) but it is good to challenge myself and have a go at something new.

I'll post the finished article at the end of the month once he has seen it and it's safe to do so. Eeeek!

Wish me luck!

Foxy Friends and matching Fox Builder Punch

A foxy little project today - isn't he sweet?

This is another card made using a bit o' inspiration from Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty. Her work is so clean and simple - I'm a huge fan!

I finally got round to using the Foxy Friends stamp set a week or two ago for the first time, and I haven't stopped playing with it since.

It is so much fun! You can create lots of different animals plus there are trees, a tree stump and some foliage to make a wreath. There's so much scope with this stamp set, there's a lot you can do with it.

The sentiment and heart in this project are from the Jar of Love stamp set.

The paper I've used is from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper set which co-ordinates with this stamp set. The Fox Builder Punch matches this stamp set and is how I punched out the fox's head.

All the items I've used are available to buy through the Stampin' Up! Store - either click on the highlighted names of the products, or go to the SHOP NOW button at the top of the page and search using the names of the products.

Good morning crafters,
So unfortunately I have lots of Watercolor Wishes Card Kit cards to show you this month - but this is only because this fabulous kit has 20 unique cards in it!

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit Stampin' Up!

You can view the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit by clicking on the link.

It also comes with a booklet that shows you how your finished projects should look - you simply follow the pictures to assemble the cards - SO easy. Of course you can choose to disregard the designs in the pack and just create your own using the contents. It's entirely up to you!

In the kit you'll find the Watercolor Wishes exclusive photopolymer stamp set (you can't buy this separately), pre-watercoloured card bases, envelopes, embellishments, 2 Classic Stampin' Spots (Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder - great colours), cardstock flag stickers, die-cut flowers, an acrylic stamp block, Stampin' Dimensionals and more.

Mountain Adventure Stamp Set

Here is my card made with the Mountain Adventure stamp set. I briefly used this a couple of weeks ago fpr the mountain in the Lord of the Rings-inspired Hobbit card...

Isn't this fab?

Mountain Adventure Stamp Set Stampin' Up!

Such a wonderful, wintery scene - makes me want to go on holiday!

Unfortunately I had to use a separate piece of card for the sentiment as I made a mistake - I did intend to stamp directly onto the card front, and I did so - I coloured the middle part of the sentiment with a pen but I didn't realise my stamp was slightly dirty and I left marks of the part of the stamp I didn't use. So a cover-up was needed. Nevermind!

I added some pearls to make snow drops - I used the teeniest-tiniest ones that come in a pack of Pearl Basic Jewels. I used Aqua Painters to watercolour the scene.

Isn't this great? You could create a scene for Christmas cards, Winter Solstice cards or for someone that loves skiing or snowboarding; really great for masculine cards!

Popcorn Box Thinlits

Today's project is one made by Stampin' Up! HQ... sort of cinema-meets-Cath Kidston...

It's a beautiful popcorn box decorated and filled with popcorn - a great gift to take to a party, or as favours to give away.

The box has been cut out using the Big Shot die-cutting machine and our Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies

Popcorn Box Thinlits Dies Stampin' Up!

It has been decorated using the You've Got This stamp set (available in wood-mount and clear-mount) and watercoloured using our Aqua Painters and our ink refills - Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Old Olive.

The popcorn is contained in some of our food-safe cellophane bags, of which there are several to choose from.

I hope this project gives you some cinema-style inspiration!

You're Amazing Card - Watercolor Wishes Card Kit

Good morning crafters,
So now we're moving into autumn - I love this season, don't you? I love all the wild berries that are so abundant at this time of year and the beautiful sunsets and crisp mornings. I think autumn is a time of change and transformation and every year I get an exicted buzz in my tummy.

Mr Hippy has helped me collect some fruit and together we've made some Blackberry Jam and had some stewed apple... apple crumble is next on the agenda!

So despite the autumn change I'm still hanging on to summery cards! I love the pop of bright and cheery colours. Does wonders for morale...

Pop of Paradise Flamingo

This morning's project is very girly, not a bit like me! But sometimes it is so lovely to craft with colours or styles that aren't your usual 'thing'.

In this case using bright pink - yes, our very own Melon Mambo!! I actually really love this colour, it is so bright and so much fun, though I would never dare to wear this colour.

Pop of Paradise stamp set Stampin' Up!

Isn't this lovely for that girly-girl in your life? Everybody knows one!

I made this card using the Pop of Paradise stamp set and matching Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper. There is also some Washi Tape in the Pop of Pink Suite.

The heart, bow and sentiment are from the Jar of Love stamp set which I have been using a lot recently.

To make this project you will need the following Stampin' Supplies:

Pop of Paradise stamp set (clear-mount set also available)
Jar of Love stamp set

Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad
Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad
Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad
