A very happy Samhain to those who celebrate!
For those not in the know, Samhain is a Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season, and the start of the journey to winter and the 'dark half' of the year. It is a time when we consider ourselves closer to the next world, so we spend some time thinking about our ancestors and those close to us that have passed over.
At the Crafty Hippy Homestead we usually celebrate with a seasonal feast and leave a place setting laid for any of our ancestors who may be passing through - they are welcome to feast with us. It is a mark of respect, and I believe the British Army do a similar thing for fallen soldiers at some of their dinners.
Today is such a special day and so I thought I'd celebrate today with a nature-inspired card, and of course that means trees!
I've used the Lovely as a Tree stamp set, which is a Stampin' Up! customer favourite and has been around for many years now. I use this stamp set fairly frequently and it is used a lot for creating snowy Christmas cards (Google it and you'll find so many amazing projects).
The sentiment is of course from Lord of the Rings (from Aragorn's Song) and is from the Glamper Greetings stamp set, which has become another firm favourite of mine. Being a huge Lord of the Rings fan I had to buy it for this sentiment alone!
I used Emerald Envy and Always Artichoke ink pads. All the items can be found in the Online Stampin' Up! Store.
I hope you all have a blessed Samhain; may the turning of the year bring you strength and joy.
Lots of love,
