Butterfly Week ~ Day 7

Papillon Potpourri, Stampin' Up!

Papillon Potpourri, Stampin' Up!

Good morning!
The last butterfly week post today here at Crafty Hippy. This is a project that was made with the wonderful "Papillon Potpourri" stamp set from Stampin' Up! and the "thinking of you" sentiment from the stamp set "Sheltering Tree".

The colours are two of the new In Colours which will be available from the new Annual Catalogue (2nd June 2015). They are Delightful Dijon and Watermelon Wonder. The sentiment was stamped in Tip Top Taupe - probably my fave new colour!

If you'd like to browse or buy the Stampin' Up! Official Store can be accessed by pressing the "Shop Online Now" button at the top of the page.

Thank you for stopping by. Back soon!

Butterfly Week ~ Day 6

Mr Hippy and I have had a super busy week this week. He has finished his current job and is moving on to another career altogether - he is training to be a Tree Surgeon!

He did 24 years in his other job - Bravo indeed! I think this card is perfect for him - with his sights set on new horizons he's right at home with the woodgrain background.

We had a leaving do for him on Thursday night and we had the luxury of staying in a lovely hotel in Staffordshire (thank you for the treat Mr Hippy). We also did a bit of sightseeing while we were there. After a long week rushing here and there I am so glad to be back home in Hippy Cottage.

As it has been a super busy one I have just listed the products used below on the spinner; you can click on the images to go through to the Stampin' Up! shop.

Enjoy your weekend!

Back tomorrow with the last of the butterfly cards,
Lauren

Butterfly Week ~ Day 5

Decorative Dots, Butterfly Basics Bundle, Stampin' Up!

This was such a quick and easy card to make - isn't it sweet?

I mounted a piece of Whisper White cardstock (which I had run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots embossing folder) onto a piece of Mint Macaron card. The green striped background piece is actually from the new Envelope Paper Stampin' Up! are bringing out with the new Catalogue (2nd June 2015) - this was punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.

The Tempting Turquoise butterfly was stamped out from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and cut out with the Big Shot using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies (see older posts from this week). You can buy the two items as a bundle and save 15%,

The sentiment is from the Sprinkes of Life stamp set (due out 2nd June 2015) and I cut this out using the Bg Shot and the Bitty Banners Dies. I finished the whole thing off with a Rhinestone.

Back tomorrow with another butterfly card.

Butterfly Week ~ Day 4

Good morning all!
So on my butterfly travels this week I found this brilliant website: http://butterfly-conservation.org/ - Butterfly Conservation are an organisation who are dedicated to saving butterflies, moths and our environment. They do some fantastic work - they reported only last month that the High Brown Fritillary experienced its best season in ten years with numbers increasing 180% compared to 2013.

For those of you that are only visiting my blog for the first time this week and don't like butterflies don't worry - this is not a butterfly blog, I'm just doing a week of butterfly inspired cards as we have so many beautiful butterfly products at Stampin' Up! Come back later for more projects.

Today's butterfly project is very similar to the 3D butterfly I made earlier in the week, but this one is in different colours and doesn't have another butterfly on top. It was made by stamping by the beautiful Swallowtail butterfly from Stampin' Up!

Swallowtail Butterfly, Stampin' Up!

I used a mixture of colours: Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Wisteria Wonder and Caypso Coral. I used a Blender Pen to lift the colour from our Classic Stampin' Pads. The sentiment comes from the lovely A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.

I used Black StazOn to stamp the butterfly (so it wouldn't bleed when colouring) but you could use Memento ink instead.

This was the card featured earlier in the week which I had embossed in black embossing powder before colouring:

Butterfly Week ~ Day 3

Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Butterfly Basics, Stampin' Up!

Morning everyone!
So today's butterfly card features both the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the Butterflies Thinlits Dies for the Big Shot, The stamps and the dies can be bought as a bundle - you save 15% when you buy them this way.

The Big Shot is a FANTASTIC bit of kit - it embosses and cuts - if you haven't got one already you should look in to getting one.

This was the first time I had used one of the butterfly dies (there are three in the pack) and I was so impressed.. the butterfly is delicately detailed and comes out of the die really well. Well done Stampin' Up! as always!

I really enjoyed using Tempting Turquoise alongside the new Mint Macaron and the new Tip Top Taupe (these are available 2nd June 2015 onwards). Lovely to have a dash of colour!

I'll be back tomorrow with another bit of butterfly inspiration.

Butterfly Week ~ Day 2

Butterfly Basics, Stampin' Up!

Today's card is also made using the Butterfly Basics stamp set from Stampin' Up! (see yesterday's post). I love this stamp set it is so versatile.

I really love the honeycomb stamp that is perfect for the background, and this gorgeous sentiment:

Butterfly Basics, Stampin' Up!

I used Tip Top Taupe, Delightful Dijon, and Rich Razzleberry which went really well togther. I really enjoyed making this card, it has been lovely to get back into the swing of things.

Don't forget to drop me a line if you'd like a new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue (starts 2nd June 2015).

Back tomorrow with another butterfly card.

Butterfly Week ~ Day 1

Butterfly Basics, Stampin' Up!

As there is such a lovely range of butterfly products in our catalogues I thought I would do a week of butterfly inspired projects. Butterflies seem to be so popular with papercrafters, and I think they are the perfect theme or addition for cards.

Today's card is one I made for the lovely Dawn of Stone Pit Crafts whose birthday it was today. (Many Happy Returns, Dawn!) - it was made using the Butterfly Basics stamp set from the Spring Summer Catalogue but features some of the new In Colours from the next Annual Catalogue (due out 2nd June 2015). I've used Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder.

I used a few Basic Pearls to finish the card off.

Back tomorrow with another butterfly project.

Sneak Peek 2

Good morning all!
Today's project is made with entirely new products (with the exception of the Whisper White Cardstock) that will be arriving with the new Annual Catalogue on the 2nd June 2015.

The lovely cloud has come from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set which features a mixture of stamps to create ice creams, trees - and clouds! I love it, it is SO versatile....

The striped paper you see here is not DSP (designer series paper) but ENVELOPE PAPER!! Yes, that's right, Stampin' Up! have bought out a new range of envelope paper which is a little bit thinner than regular DSP to create your envelopes with. You could use it to make the envelope or line an envelope made with cardstock - or, as in this case, use it to decorate your cards and scrapbook projects.

I've used Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe here - two of the new In Colours for 2015-2017. Don't they go well together? These colours remind me of those lovely little french macarons.

Back soon with more projects,
Lauren

Six Sided Sampler

Six Sided Sampler, Stampin' Up!

Today's card features the hexagonal Stampin' Up! stamp set Six Sided Sampler, which I've stamped in Calypso Coral, Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder. I've used the matching punch and some Stampin' Dimensionals foam pads to cut them out and elevate them. A few rhinestones, a sentiment from the same stamp set and Bob's your uncle! (As we say here in Britain!).

Stay crafty folks!

Swallowtail Butterfly

Swallowtail, Stampin' Up! Stampin Up

Today's card features the beautiful and simply HUGE Swallowtail butterfly stamp from Stampin' Up! I absolutely adore this stamp set and it has been a little while since I played with it so thought it was time to dust it off.

I am so pleased to tell you that it will be carrying forwards into the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue which starts 2nd June 2015; please get in touch if you would like a catalogue.

Swallowtail, Stampin' Up! Stampin Up

I stamped the Swallowtail in Black StazOn ink and I used some Blender Pens to pick up the colour (and shade in) from the following Classic Ink Pads: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red. Sentiment comes from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.

I stamped the image on the card first then recreated another butterfly which I stuck on top so that the wings hang over the edge of the card and create a 3D effect.

What do you think?

Supplies for the card are listed at the bottom of the page, don't forget to browse or buy the Official Stampin' Up! shop by pressing the Shop Online Now button at the top of the screen.

Back soon,

More Wetlands

Wetlands stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Good evening everyone!
Have you all had a good week?

Mr Hippy and I went to Butser last weekend as planned to celebrate the first stirrings of summer - an old fire festival know as "Beltane". We went to Butser Ancient Farm, a truly magical place.

Magical or not, I have to say it was flippin' freezin'! We had a great time though and it was lovely to spend some time together out of the house; May is my favourite month because that's usually when everyone starts to get outside more.

Here we are on our afternoon out, check out our woad facepainting:

The weather hasn't much picked up since then (although it has been a bit sunny today), still cold - but then this is England! Don't we just love talking about the weather here as it is so changeable! So, today I thought we'd go with some summery colours to warm us all up. The card features the Wetlands stamp set which will be staying in the next Stampin' Up! catalogue:

Wetlands stamp set, Stampin' Up!

I used an Aqua Painter from Stampin' Up! to create this lovely colour wash effect. I love this stamp set, you can use it with differing colours in the background and create completely different cards. I'm so glad it is staying in the new Annual Catalogue. Press the "Shop Online Now" button at the top of the page to browse or buy products in the official Stampin' Up! online shop.

I shall be posting up some sneak peeks from the new Annual Catalogue (starts June 2nd) in the next few days, so please drop by again.

Stay crafty!
