Spring Inspiration

Last weekend my lovely Mr Hippy was home after nearly 7 weeks away! It was half term and Little Hippy was spending some time with her dad; so once the shifts of my 'proper' job were done - I work for an outdoor clothing company - it was time to get outdoors myself and enjoy some fresh air.

We picked a lovely route in Farnham and we were soon rewarded with the first treats of Spring... The snowdrops and some gorgeous, tiny cyclamen were in full bloom:

It might only be the first stirrings of Spring, but it's definitely on its way; the days are brighter and the evenings are getting lighter!

These lovely flowers made me want to make something in purple and white, so following on from the bokeh card I made on Wednesday, here is today's creation. No flowers per se, but that gorgeous Spring pallete..

Stampin' Up! Handcarved, Bokeh

The lovely sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants set - "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful" - how lovely is that? It's the small things in life (like little spring flowers) that make it special...

Here's an updated picture of me and lovely Mr Hippy out on our walk....

Thank you for stopping by. Back soon with another project.

You're Fabulous!

This is what I call an "absent-minded" card which was made whilst I caught up with a friend yesterday. I've done quite well for seeing crafty friends (well, friends in general!) this week, which is a real bonus.
Put simply, this was a card I made whilst listening intently to what my friend had to say rather than concentrating on what my hands were doing! But I'm really happy with the result.

It is made entirely from the High Five stamp set and consists only of simple stamping. Perfect for those cards you need to make in a hurry, or for cards you need to mass-produce. Thank you cards and invitations springs to mind; you could change the sentiment to the occasion.

I used a mixture of blues and greens - Wild Wasabi, Pool Party and Marina Mist - I stamped once or twice depending on the shade I wanted. Night of Navy was perfect for the sentiment.

Back tomorrow with more ideas, thank you for stopping by.

Bokeh Effect Trend

  1.  In photography, bokeh (Originally /ˈboʊkɛ/, /ˈboʊkeɪ/ BOH-kay — also sometimes pronounced as /ˈboʊkə/ BOH-kə, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens.

Recreating the bokeh effect has been popular in cardmaking recently - just Google "Bokeh Stampin' Up!" and see what results you come up with. I've had a go and it's not easy, even with a given technique.

I think the best result I have found online was the following card - I don't know who the artist is to give credit (please message me if it is your work of art and I'll credit you!) but the following card was pinned to a Pinterest board from a website called "Moxie Fab World"

My creation ended up looking more like a tie-dye effect - I think this is down to the quality of the Watercolour Paper I used:

Stampin' Up! Bokeh

A pretty poor outcome despite the time put into this! I think more blending was needed of the colour underneath; - again, I think this was down to the quality of the Watercolour Paper.

I will not be defeated and will be giving this another go when I have some more time on my hands! And I still think the card is pretty in its own right.

Flowerpot DSP

Flowerpot, Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! Stampin Up

Good morning!
Here is today's Stampin' Up! project.

This is a card I made for a family member and so the main "You're Amazing" sentiment is actually an old stamp set but the "happy birthday" sentiment and everything else on the card is current!

The spotty paper is from Stampin' Up!'s Flowerpot Designer Series Paper (DSP), this is one of my faves! The colour is Crushed Curry and goes really well with Crumb Cake, the other colour featured here.

I've used some Stampin' Up! Rhinestone Basic Jewels, and some gold Metallic Bakers Twine.

I thought the colour would be a bit overbearing (even though I love it!) but I was really pleased with it.

Back tomorrow!

Gorgeous Grunge #3

Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Wonderful
Good morning,
This is the last of the Gorgeous grunge cards for a while. I forgot to mention before that the sentiment is from Simply Wonderful, which is one of the FREE sale-a-bration sets (you can pick from a range of goodies for every £45 you spend with Stampin' Up!).

I've used three completely different colours to the last three cards - this shows what a difference just changing the colours can make! I used Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.

Back tomorrow with a different card!

Gorgeous Grunge and Papillon Potpourri #2

Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge, Papillon Potpourri

Following Friday's card using Gorgeous Grunge and Papillon Potpourri here's another working ont he same layout but using different colours. This card started off even simpler:

Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge,

Without the butterfly (and perhaps in shades of blue or orange) this card would be perfect for all those masculine cards, showing how one minor detail can switch between cards for the sexes, making it a super quick make when you are in a rush.

Back tomorrow with one last Gorgeous Grunge card.

Papillon Potpourri and Gorgeous Grunge

Stampin' Up! Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge

Quick one for today! This simple card was made using two of my favourite stamp sets; Gorgeous Grunge and Papillon Potpourri.

I have used shades of pink and purple, namely Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red, Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black, and just layered the stamps on top of oner another.

Kinda Eclectic

Good morning everyone!
I'm in a super cheery mood today, Mr Hippy is back after six weeks away. It is SO lovely to be reunited.

The days seem to be longer and brighter, too, which is fantastic, not least because I'll be able to take some better pictures for this blog! The card here looks so much better in person than in the picture.

This one was a really basic and quick card to make and I used three colours: Smoky Slate, Basic Black and Crumb Cake, which has to be one of my faves and goes with everything.

I used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and used the Elegant Butterfly punch to cut out the butterfly, but you could just as easily do this with some small, sharp scissors.

Back tomorrow!

Simply Wonderful

Good morning crafters!
This card was made using the Sale-a-bration freebie set "Simply Wonderful" which you can choose as your free gift (from a selection) when you spend £45. You can pick a different gift for every £45 you spend.

I have used the fabulous Stampin' Up! Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the stamp so that it is straight every single time. The Stamp-a-ma-jig (#101049) costs £10.95 and I have used it so many times over the years - I wonder how I coped before I had bought it. The truth is I wouldn't have been able to make cards like this before owning it, and all sentiments placed on a stamped masterpiece would be a risky investment!!

I used the following colours: Real Red (#126949), Pumpkin Pie (#126945), Daffodil Delight (#126944), Garden Green (126973), Pacific Point (#126951) and Rich Razzleberry (#126950). I used pens so that I could omit the "so very much" part of the sentiment until the last line. The photograph sadly doesn't do the colours justice; in real life they are very vibrant and pack more of a punch than in the photograph. I added a little rhinestone in the corner to give it a little bit of sparkle. I was really pleased with this card.

Back tomorrow with another project,

Everything Eleanor

Everything Eleanor, Stampin' Up!

Good morning!
This is a card I've pretty much CASEd from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, bar a few changes here and there. On page 69 there is a lovely stamp set called "Everything Eleanor" which has been around for quite a few years now as it is so versatile and one of the old favourites with Stampin' Up! customers. I've not used this set in a very long time so it was lovely to have a go with this old friend again.

Everything Eleanor, Stampin' Up!

As you can see I've lined the inside of the card with some designer series paper - "Flowerpot" available from the Annual Catalogue (#133698). On the front of the card I have used a strip of Blackberry Bliss striped paper which is from the "Moonlight" paperstack (#133701).

I stamped flowers from Everything Eleanor in the following colours: Hello Honey (#133643), Blackberry Bliss (#133642), Blushing Bride (#131172) and Smoky Slate (#131179). I think they go really well together. A Tea Lace Paper Doily (#129399) and some Pearl Basic Jewels (#119247) finishes off the look.

I was really pleased with this card!

Cheerful Critters #3

Morning all,
Here's the third Cheerful Critters card featuring the lovely Flowerpot Designer Series paper and stamping in Tangerine Tango. The sentiment "Happy Day!" is from the Cheerful Critters stamp set and the lines are from Gorgeous Grunge. I have used Blendibilities Markers to shade in the chick.

Cheerful Critters #2

Today's card is another Cheerful Critters (Photopolymer stamp set #137932) card - the paper used here is the Moonlight paperstack (#133701). The wooden elements are the Essential Wooden Elements (#132258). The stamp used in the background is from Gorgeous Grunge (wood #130514, clear #130517).

Cheerful Critters

Stampin' Up! Cheerful Critters

Good morning! This card was inspired by the one in the Sale-a-bration brochure on page 21. It is made using the wonderful "Cheerful Critters" stamp set which is available from the Stampin' Up! Spring Summer Catalogue (link on the left), I think it's gorgeous, don't you?

Kinda Eclectic CASE

Kinda Eclectic, Stampin' Up!

Morning crafters!
Today's card is a CASE from Demo Joan Robertson of the Daily Stampede; I'm loving her cards this week, and she has been inspiring me with my creations - but this is an out and out CASE (Copy and Share Everything - one of our Stampin' Up! tenets).

The stamp set used is Kinda Eclectic - I love this set and have used it so much. The paper is All Abloom (#133703) another favourite this week and the cardstock is Lost Lagoon (#133686) and Daffodil Delight (#121680) - they go really well together. I have also used Basic Black Ink (#126980) and Daffodil Delight (#126944) for the sunshine stamp, and of course Lost Lagoon ink for the butterfly (#133644).

Kinda Eclectic, Stampin' Up!

I used the Elegant Butterfly Punch (#127526) which has featured heavily this week in my projects and also the Angled Tag Topper Punch (#133323) to make the tag  - I love this punch SO much and it is especially brilliant for Christmas for making all those tags. The ribbon was some old Stampin' Up! ribbon I had in my stash.

I really like this card and the colour combination, and it was so good to be able to do a straight forward CASE having all the bits needed for it.

Back tomorrow!

Kinda Eclectic Rainbow #2

Kinda Eclectic, High Five, Stampin' Up!

Good morning,
Today's card is another take on yesterday's offering, but I chose various shades of peach and pink. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig (#101049) to neatly line up the dotty stamp from Kinda Eclectic (wood #135347, clear #135350) which I stamped in Calypso Coral (#126983) and Blushing Bride (#131172). It looks like I have used four colours, but that is because I stamped each colour once and also stamped off first before stamping again to create different shades of the two colours.

I then added the "You're Fabulous" sentiment from the "High Five" set (wood #133961, Clear #133964), which I then cut out and mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) foam pads.

Back tomorrow with another Stampin' Up! card,

Kinda Eclectic Rainbow

Kinda Eclectic, High Five, Stampin' Up!

Good morning!
This is a basic but effective card and is super quick to make. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig (#101049) to neatly line up the dotty stamp from Kinda Eclectic (wood #135347, clear #135350) which I stamped in (going from the top) Pacific Point (#126951), Tempting Turquoise (#126952), Old Olive (#126953), Crushed Curry (#1311730), Rose Red (#126954) and Rich Razzleberry (#126950).

I then added the "Sweet" sentiment from the "High Five" set (wood #133961, Clear #133964), which I punched out with the Large Oval (#119855).

Back tomorrow with another Stampin' Up! card,

All Abloom Butterflies #2

Stampin' Up!, All Abloom, Elegant Butterfly Punch

Good morning,
Today's card is another version of the design I did yesterday (which was based on a design by Joan Robertson of the Daily Stampede), I actually prefer the one from yesterday with the extra border.

I used the gorgeous All Abloom paperstack (#133703), with which I cut out three butterflies using the Elegant Butterfly Punch (#127526).

I mounted them on some Whisper White cardstock (#106549) and Crumb Cake cardstock (#121685), and used the Dictionary Stamp (wood #130348, clear #130351), which I stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad ink (#126975).

I then finished off with some Pearl Basic Jewels (#119247) instead of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#119246).which I used yesterday.

Warm Autumnal Sheltering Tree

Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree

Good morning,
This is the last Sheltering Tree card for a while! It features a lovely sentiment " You warm my heart" from the Sheltering Tree set.

I used a Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad to sponge a background and used Always Artichoke, Early Espresso and Crushed Curry as my colours - I think they went really well together. I was really pleased with this one, it came out much better than I anticipated. It would make a lovely Samhain or Autumn card for a friend or loved one.

Don't forget that as it's Sale-a-bration you get a FREE gift for every £45 you spend with Stampin' Up! click the link at the left hand side of the page and press "Shop Online Now" to browse or buy.

Sheltering Tree with Hearts

Good morning everyone!
More of the Sheltering Tree stamp set today because it is just so gorgeous. The sentiment is from A Happy Thing - I love this sentiment so much and can see myself using it a lot. I love this autumnal card! The little heart stamp is from the set Wood you be Mine? which I featured earlier on in the week.

I created the marbled effect with the leaves using some babywipes and re-inkers - I created a stamp pad using these and dripped the ink onto the stamp pad randomly and the colours mixed in together. I used Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango.

Stampin' Up! Lotus Blossom

Lotus Blossom, Stampin' Up!

Good morning
Today's card features the Lotus Blossom stamp set which is FREE when you spend £45 on Stampin' Up! products. As I've been talking about all week, you get a free gift for every £45 you spend and there is a whole host of goodies to chose from. Have a look HERE.

The Lotus Blossom set works on a triple stamping principle - and by using only two colours you can create a depth of shade that also looks like you have used three colours - so clever!

I used Classic Stampin' Pads Blushing Bride (#131172) and Calypso Coral (#126983).

The polkadots on the card were used by a decorative mask (Dots and Stripes #133775) and a sponge dauber (Sponge Daubers #133773) - I used Bermuda Bay cardstock (#131286) with the ink from a Classic Stampin Pad of the same colour (Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad #131171).

Lotus Blossom, Stampin' Up!

The sentiment came from Regarding Dahlias (wood #130324 or clear #130327), and I stamped this in Calypso Coral, too. I punched it out using the Modern Label Punch (#119849).

Lotus Blossom, Stampin' Up!

 Isn't it clever??

A Happy Thing

A Happy Thing, Stampin' Up!

Good morning all!
Today's card features the lovely Sale-a-bration stamp set A Happy Thing which is FREE when you spend £45 (other free gifts are available, too, and you get one for every £45 spent).

I coloured the bird (I think it is a Kookaburra...?) using a Blender Pen to pick up small bits of colour from my Stampin' Up! Classic ink pads. This way I managed to shade and blend the bird accordingly.

Colours used in this project were Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Blushing Bride, Night of Navy. I used the Big Shot and one of the Oval dies to create the frame, and the designer series paper I used was the lovely "Flowerpot".

A Happy Thing, Stampin' Up!
I used the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and the matching die for the happy birthday sentiment. It came out much better than I had anticipated! I was very pleased with the result.

Back tomorrow with more crafty ideas,
Lauren

Thanks so much!

This card was inspired by circles of the bokeh effect (my attempts at bokeh went very wrong!) - I masked the stripes and the circles and then stamped the sentiment. I used two colours - Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake and the darker brown is Early Espresso.

Not my favourite card of the week but I'm really happy with the effect. I'm going to try this again with some better colours.

Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree #2

Good morning everyone,
Here's today's creation, I hope you like it! Isn't it amazing how a change of colour can make the same tree look so very different? (If you didn't check in yesterday, look at yesterday's post to compare). I love the colours in this card - I used Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Tangerine Tango.

The "Love life" sentiment is from "A Happy Thing" - one of the Sale-a-bration sets you can choose FREE when you spend £45 on Stampin' Up! products. You choose a free product for every £45 you spend (excluding £4.95 postage).

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the Spring Summer Catalogue or about Sale-a-bration (and how to get your FREE products!).

Sheltering Tree

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

I absolutely ADORE this stamp set and have used it loads since I bought it. It's available from the Spring Summer Stampin' Up! catalogue (press the "Shop Online Now" button at the top of the screen!) in Photopolymer priced at £22.95 and contains 14 stamps:

It's brilliant for making cards for different seasons and the little bike is so cute!

I embossed my tree in silver emboss powder to make it stand out and used the Silver Glimmer Papaer to back it before mounting on my card stock:

Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!

Back tomorrow with a different Sheltering Tree card.
