Only one more sleep....

...Until the Spring/Summer catalogue arrives!! Woohoo!!
I'm getting increasingly excited by the day. Here's your new catalogue sneak peek for today.....

Stampin' Up! doilies

Yep, the doily is new, as is the patterned paper.

I had a bit of a punch-fest with this card! I think I'm going to give this to Mr Hippy for Valentine's Day.

There are so many lovely crafty goodies in the new catalogue, and in the main one, too. If you'd like a set of catalogues, then head over to the order page of my website where you can buy one - I refund the cost of the catalogue from your first order of £30 and above. Don't forget that you get a free product for every £45 spent during Saleabration, too.

Only 2 more sleeps......

......Until the Spring/Summer catalogue is here!

I'm so excited!
I can't wait to share with you all the lovely products that feature in the new catalogue. If you thought the Autumn/Winter catalogue was good; just wait until you see Stampin' Up!'s latest offering.

To celebrate the impending arrival I'm sharing this little sneak peek with you.....

I say "little" because this peek shows you just a little strip of Designer Series Paper (from a gorgeous set called "Sunshine and Sprinkles") and a stamp from a special, flowery label kit.

The embossing folder is of course "Vine Street" which is one of the Saleabration items that are free when you spend £45 or more, which is an offer that runs all the way up to March 22nd. So you have plenty of time to get choosing those Spring/Summer catalogue items and redeem your Saleabrtion freebies when you place an order.

Want FREEbies? Got a question?? Give me a shout!!  the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

Mr Crafty Hippy Creates.......

Good morning crafters!

Today's blog post is dedicated to the lovely, hairy, gorgeous Mr Hippy.

I've been meaning to post these up ages ago. They are a little out of season, but I wanted to show you that  creating with Stampin' Up! is just so much fun that even Mr Hippy (a boy!) wanted to get in on the action.

Whilst he can build and engineer just about anything (being the clever little sausage he is) he needed a lil bit of help with his most unusual (for him, anyway) project. The challenge was to make some mini Christmas cards for his work colleagues.

As you can see a pot of Pic'n'Mix adds to the crafty fun....

Mr Hippy concentrates whilst using the Owl Builder Punch for the creatures featuring on his cards (not an owl).....

After fore-manning the project, Mrs Hippy had the job of adding the Dazzling Diamonds - Stampin' Up!'s seriously sparkly glitter.....

And Voila!! Cutesy little penguin cards for Mr Hippy's colleagues that he was really happy with. The boy did good.....

The more I use it the more I find the Owl Builder Punch is just so useful.

If you would like to know more about Stampin' Up!, to receive a catalogue, or order the Owl Builder Punch (or other Stampin' Up! products) then please get in touch.  the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

Sshhhhhhhhhhh!!! Don't tell Mr Hippy that he features in today's blog post ~ it would seriously ruin his street cred!

Using stamps to make designer paper

Good morning all.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend? I've taken a few days away from the blog to relax a little. The weather has at last been a bit more agreeable, so we got outside and did a little more work on our camper conversion. It's slowly coming along.

Today's card is an example of how to make gorgeous designer paper using the stamping technique. The flowery paper you see behind the main panel of the card is actually white card stock that has been stamped by hand.

Established Elegance, En Francais, Stampin' Up!

This is such a good way to make use of those flowery or scrolled stamps that come with many sets, and means you can have paper that co-ordinates with whatever your project is.

I used a brayer for the main panel (in Sahara Sand) and then stamped on top of that with the En Francais script stamp; using the Established Elegance set to stamp the main images. This card has a vintage feel to it, which I love.

Really quick, simple and effective.

The colours I used were Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse; teamed with Chocolate Chip. If you'd like to purchase Stampin' Up! craft supplies then please don't hesitate to get in touch ~ I'd be only too pleased to help. the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

Fan Fair DSP

I love this designer series paper from Stampin' Up! It's called Fan Fair and features this gorgeous map-patterned sheet.
It's turning out to be a favourite of mine, and it's very popular with my customers and downline demos, too, as it is just so beautiful:

Fan Fair Stampin' Up!

Tomorrow Saleabration starts!!  So for every £45 you spend (not including postage) on goodies from the Main Catalogue and Seasonal Catalogue you will get a choice of one of 17 items that are available as freebies. These range from stamp sets to ribbon & button packs. I can send you details if you're interested!

So why not invest in some Fan Fair paper, along with some other gorgeous Stampin' Up! bits and get a free stamp set for every £45 you've spent and grow that craft collection that little bit more!?

Being a Demo I managed to get my hands on the "Patterned Occasions" set which is one of the freebies that will be available during Saleabration and made this card ~ please excuse the picture, it's not that great and doesn't do the card (or the stamp set!) justice:

Patterned Occasions Saleabration

There are 5 gorgeous stamps in this set. During Saleabration I will be showcasing more cards made with this set, keep an eye out! And please get in touch if I can help you at all with your Saleabration purchases.

Thanks so much!

Snow cards

Down here in the South of England we've had lots of snow over the last few days which inspired me to make this card:

I decided to use Whisper White as my main colour and I used some Midnight Muse to stamp the sentiment "Friend" from the Affection Collection set. I used some Fan Fair designer series paper and some punches; and an embossing folder and Big Shot ~ all from the Stampin' Up! Main Catalogue.

Although this card features flowers I can't help feel they look a bit like snowflakes!!!

If you would like to order Stampin' Up! products then please get in touch as I am proud to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator; and I can help you wherever you are in the UK.
If you'd like a catalogue then please purchase one from the Order page - the cost of the catalogue will be refunded from your first order of £30 or more.

Thanks for looking, stay warm!!

Ribbit!

Animal Talk Stampin' Up!

Ok, so we are forecast for lots of snow and not rain today, so this card may be a little off-topic (although did you see that nature programme recently with the arctic frog that literally freezes to death then re-animates....??) .....I love this card nonetheless!

I used the Animal Talk set from Stampin' Up! which is a fantastically fun set! As you can see in the image below there is something for every occasion.

I used two shades of green (I used my Color Coach to get the right two shades) which were Wild Wasabi and Garden Green. The little frogs on the outer part of the card are a sneak peek from a set that is coming in the Spring... I thought they went perfectly!

This is a pic of Little Hippy and I in the snow a few years ago, she looks soooo small!

Wherever you are today keep safe and warm ~ and do something crafty!

Established Elegance

Good morning all!
Isn't it chilly?

Are you all ready for the "significant" snowfall we are expecting tomorrow?? I love snow!! I live in an old house which is sometimes hard to get warm, but we've had the heating on non-stop and so it is nice and snuggly. Tonight is the first sitting of my monthly Creative Card Making class; so I'll be spending the day inside keeping warm and getting ready for that.

If you are local to me (GU12) then please consider coming along - they only cost £10 per head and I provide all the class materials and refreshments - and they're lots of fun!

Here's today's card. I used two stamp sets to make this - Established Elegance and French Foliage - two sets I adore and have used loads. The main colour is Midnight Muse and some Chocolate Chip - I used the brayer in the background before stamping on top.

If you'd like to come to a class or if you'd like to order Stampin' Up! goodies then let me know. There is a Buy Now PayPal button on the "Order" section of my website if you'd like to purchase a Catalogue. I refund the amount from your first order - please see that page for more details or just drop me a line the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

Stampin' Up! fabric projects

As well as all kinds of paper and crafting accessories, Stampin' Up! also have a beautiful selection of fabric and ribbon.

Today I'm showing you another little sneak peek ~ this fabric is from a gorgeous set of three ~ which will be available in the new Spring/Summer Catalogue (1st February 2013).

The set comes in three different fat quarters for the bargain price of £8.95 (you'll have to stay posted to see the other two!).

Here is a Lingerie Bag (also known as a Laundry Bag) for those nights away ~ somewhere to store your smalls! Or you could find a million other uses for it, I'm sure. Can you see from the picture but it has beautiful cream doily-shaped patterns that feature hearts? - SO pretty:

Home projects

I thought I'd give you all a little insight into what other craftiness I get up to when I'm not busy being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, playing with paper, or making jewellery. This weekend Mr Hippy and I managed to fit a few projects in.

First up was re-upholstering a little stool that was given to me by my lovely friend Jane. It was her late mum's and as she was a super-crafty artist I know she'll be looking down smiling because it has been given a new lease of life (by hand) and is now being used in a craft studio. Thank you Nanny Joan.

The legs needed sprucing up with some white metal paint, but at least it now matches the curtains and cushions I made for my craft room:

As Sunday was dry and sunny we decided to do some work on our VW camper conversion.

We've been ummm-ing and ahhhh-ring for ages over material for curtains and upholstery; but this weekend we finally found some fabric that we're really happy with, so we decided to cover the headlining of the cab with it. The headlining is the bit above your head (essentially the roof!) and the cab is the bit you sit in during transit (for those who don't know what I'm talking about)....

We used some super-fast stick carpet adhesive and took our time to cover the headlining:

We had to make sure that any air bubbles were smoothed out quickly, and then we had to pull the overhanging bits taught; and fix them to the back with more of the carpet adhesive ~ which is SUPER sticky.

We both had a go, here's Mr Hippy making a start on the sides:

And Voila! Our finished upholstered headlining:

The colour is "Gentian" which is a yellowy-lime colour which is so rich and bright ~ in the Crafty Hippy house we love bright colours!!

I did manage to complete a third fabric project this weekend, which is also a Stampin' Up! project; here's a sneak peek of what I made which I shall be showcasing tomorrow:

Good morning everyone!!
I love setting myself a challenge of making a card with a list of things to have in it (chosen off the top of my head, of course); which I did this morning as I needed a card. I wanted it to feature the following things:

*The colour green. My fave colour of all time!
*Some embossing
*Hearts
*Must be quick and basic (but effective).

Here's what creativity gave me:

You Are Loved, Stampin' Up!

I decided to go for a sentiment-less card that could be used for all occasions. I think it has a folkish feel to it, due to the stamp set I've used, which I absolutely love.

The heart is from the "You are Loved" set which does have a large Valentine's Day sentiment in it, but has varied-enough stamps for other projects, too.

I chose Wild Wasabi as my colour, and contrasted that with Whisper White. I was really happy with its effective simplicity!

Stampin' Up! has an enormous range of premium craft supplies so please contact me if you'd like to know more! the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

By The Tide

....That's the name of the beautiful stamp set from the Spring-Summer Catalogue featured in this card:

It has lovely sea creatures and some gorgeous script about shells in it, perfect for all those nautical and underwater based cards! The sea reeds look a little smudged, I got a bit too close with my Smooch Spray (you can't see from the picture but it has a gorgeous opalescent sheen to it) but I think this just adds to the watery theme of the card.

The photograph really doesn't do it justice.

You may be wondering where I got the doily from; that's another sneak peek from the Spring-Summer catalogue ~ they have lots of accessories and embellishments for your cards and projects coming ~ it's so very exciting!

Please get in touch if you have any questions or if you would like to order some Stampin' Up! craft supplies- it doesn't matter where you are in the UK - and I'm an enthusiastic, approachable Demonstrator who would only be too grateful to help you with your enquiry.

Til next time!

Stampin' Up! Spring Summer Catalogue, Sunshine and Sprinkles

Here's a very quick, basic, card that features probably the sweetest paper I have ever seen. It is called "Sunshine & Sprinkles" (even the name is fab) and what's not to like about whales, anchors, rainbows, stars and umbrellas? ~ this paper features lots of my favourite things!!! It is mounted on Melon Mambo card as this designer series paper is all about the brights!

If you would like more details about Stampin' Up! craft supplies then please don't hesitate to call me or drop me a line via email, I'm an approved Demonstrator and I can take an order from you wherever you are in the UK and I'd simply love to hear from you ~  the_crafty_hippy@yahoo.co.uk

Jar of Gratitude

One of the things I promised myself I would do this year is make a "Happiness Jar".

This is a jar that you fill with little notes of things that made you happy and grateful throughout the year, to be opened and read on New Year's Eve.

I decorated an old jam jar with some Comfort Cafe paper, cardstock and a dash of Midnight Muse ribbon. The stamp is a sneak peek from a set that will appear in the Spring-Summer Mini catalogue:

I'm really looking forward to opening them all, in just under a year's time, and seeing what a fabulous year I had.

Nature Inspired Cards

Undoubtedly, the biggest influence to me in my card making and jewellery crafting is nature. Whether this is because I'm a pagan and therefore a nature worshipper (stream, rock and river are my altar), or whether it's just one of those natural preference things; I'm not sure.

I'll never forget the simply HUGE tree that I photographed on the Goodwood Estate a few years back, its size towered over us all, blocking out the light where its shadow fell on a hot summer's day; and giving us some much needed shade:

Just looking at the man next to the tree gives you an idea of its size. Seeing this photo' for the first time in a long while inspired me to make today's card:

It features the gorgeous, majestic oak tree stamp from the Lovely as a Tree set, which is Stampin' Up!'s oldest (and most popular) set. I also used Perfectly Penned for the sentiment; and Woodgrain for the background woodgrain effect. The shade of green ink used is Always Artichoke, a favourite of mine.

If you look closely you can see that I watercoloured the leaves on the tree with a Stampin' Marker and a blender pen:

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like a Stampin' Up! catalogue, or if you would like to order any of the products you have seen.

New Years Resolutions

It's that time of year where many of us make resolutions, or have ideas of things we'd like to achieve to make us happier ~ with a renewed energy to get them done.

I'm not really a New Years resolution girl - I tend to set my mind to a task at any time of year. If I want something bad enough I usually get it done.

But in the spirit of things I have thought about what I'd like to achieve for the year ahead and have a small(ish!) list:

1. Take up exercise.
This hasn't been happening due to limited time. I cram as much as I can in the hours I have. But I'd like to get myself in better shape. Not just to lose a little bit of weight, but to strenghten my body and wellbeing; as I have had a fair few health problems over the last few years.

2. Take time out for myself.
It never happens, it should happen for resolution one to happen - and I doubt there'll be much time to do this after resolution number 3. I never know what to do with spare time, so invariably I fill any I get up! Gulp.

3. Start jewellery making again (a passion) and get an Etsy shop started.

4. Stop worrying. About everything and anything.

5. Do more camping this summer. This means finishing off our camper van and getting organised ~ I simply can't wait 'til we can hit the road.

6. Get to as many festivals as I can.

What are your New Year resolutions??

I have started off my list by getting an Etsy shop opened - but it's not stocked yet! I will let you know when it has been completed. There will be a few more crafts on my blog, but there will still be plenty of Stampin' Up! cards for inspiration as always.

Here is a sneak peek of what will be on offer!

These are my gorgeous "Celtic Heart" earrings in turquoise ~ they can be yours for £6.50 + postage and packaging. Please get in touch if you would like to order a pair.

2013

A Happy New Year to you all!

After falling in love with Stampin' Up! and becoming a Demonstrator in May ~ and becoming utterly obsessed with crafting even more as a result ~ I took some much needed time off over the holidays to recharge my batteries and spend some time with my family.

We spent Christmas morning at my parents' house, here is my five year old daughter with a mountain of unwrapped toys behind her and in typical fashion she is playing with a cardboard box:

Note Granddad playing with getting the packaging off Barbie.....

Around mid-morning we travelled down to Mr Hippy's family home in Somerset, where we spent the next 4 nights. My Hippy and I managed to get out on our own for a day's exploration on Exmoor which was just fantastic, we don't get to spend much time just the two of us. The weather was pretty terrible at times; which just added to the atmosphere of the place and meant we saw some fantastic waterfalls which would have otherwise not been there had it been dry and sunny:

We went down some really steep, drop-sided roads which were a little like something from that "World's Most Dangerous Roads" programme ~ ok, that might be a slight exaggeration ~ but not liking heights, I have to admit that I had to hide my face a few times; and I quickly learned that what goes down must come back up again! How we managed to climb some of those roads I have no idea.
All this in a long wheel base van - we must be absolutely crackers......

Still, our lovely van managed to get us where we wanted to be and we ended up at the beautifully desolate Porlock Weir, which is a quaint little harbour overlooked by the towering woods of Exmoor. The view from the harbour was breathtaking and to me conjured up all sorts of images of smugglers and pirates:

We then warmed ourselves up in a beautiful little pub called The Ship Inn which was popular with locals and tourists alike - there must have been 8 dogs in that pub!

We then climbed back up into our lovely (and rather dirty) VW, and made our way back home ~ this time along the coastal route where we stopped at Blue Anchor to watch the sun go down.

This trip inspired the first card of the year for me to post up. It is created using the nautical stamp set "The Open Sea" and some of the "Polkadot Parade" designer series paper, both from Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! The Open Sea, Polkadot Parade

I hope you all had a good holiday, and I look forward to helping you all in 2013 with your Stampin' Up! needs,

Lauren
